13 years ago today - on January 22, 2013, we became a company on paper. But our real journey began a few months earlier, in late 2012, when we became part of the first batch of SELCO Foundation incubatees. They trained us, guided us, and helped us find our footing before we even legally existed. We simply wouldn't be here today without their support, which continues to this day.
For this 13th Foundation Day, we thought about inviting all our partners, friends, and well-wishers. But we decided to keep it intimate. The truth is, we weren't celebrating a "thriving" business or a booming year. We aren't. Like everyone else around us, we are navigating tough times. Our story right now isn't about massive success; it is about resilience and survival.
So, we spent the day with the people who know the true cost of that survival: our team and our families.
We also remembered our past team members - those who helped build Eartheners but have moved on to other paths. They are part of our story, and we remain grateful for their contribution.
We also screened a small video of our journey - the struggles, the failures, the experiments, and the people who have been, and are, a part of it.
When it came time to share personal stories after the video, the room got heavy. Many of us got emotional. It was a moment of raw honesty about how hard the journey has been.
But because we are Eartheners, we didn't stay somber. We ended the day with music, dance, and a very competitive game of Tambola! :)
To our partners and friends: We missed you, and hopefully, as things get better and our resilience turns into stability, we will be able to celebrate with all of you next time.
Until then, we keep climbing. Step by step.
** A special mention to our friends at .studio who put this video together in like two days with nothing but a rough narration, a vague brief, and some not-very-well-labelled blurry photos to work with! Mucho Gracias!
