Sec. 73(9) of CGST Act Prescribed Penalty for Short/Non Payment of Tax @ 10% of Tax due or Rs. 10000/- Whichever is Higher.
If Payable Tax Amount is Rs. 1/- or less than Rs. 1 lac Penalty is same as Rs. 10000/-.
Short/Non Payment of Tax already Attracts Interest & No Such Penalty Provisions were either in VAT or Sales Tax Acts.
Levy of Penalty Shows "राजशाही" Attitudes of "लोकतांत्रिक सरकार".
Sec. 73(9) of CGST Act be Amended and Penalty Provisions should be deleted with retrospective effects.
