The Aatmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission – NITI Aayog has launched a Challenge to build a strong ecosystem of Indian apps.
The idea is to build a strong domestic ecosystem of Indian apps which will also cater to the global market. Some of these apps might be integrated with the government e-Marketplace (GeM).
The innovation challenge will have two tracks: the promotion of existing apps and the development of new apps in categories like office productivity and work from home, social networking, e-learning, entertainment, health and wellness, agritech and fintech, and news and games.
The Innovation Challenge will be available on https://innovate.mygov.in/app-challenge from 4th July 2020. The last date of submission of entries is 18th July 2020. The applicants need to apply online to submit their proposals by registering and logging on to the MyGov portal – www.mygov.in
A specific Jury for each track with experts from Private Sector & Academia will evaluate the entries received. Post evaluation based on parameters that include Ease of use (UI/UX), Robustness, Security and Scalability, these apps will be given awards and features on “leaderboards for information of citizens".
The government has allocated ₹20 lakh, ₹15 lakh and ₹10 lakh for the first, second and third placed apps in each category. There may also be sub-categories, where winners will get ₹5 lakh, ₹3 lakh and ₹2 lakh for first, second and third position, respectively.
