For centuries, the sun has been a symbol of energy, vitality, and hope. In India, we call it Surya Devta, the giver of life. But today, we are not just worshipping the sun; we are harnessing its power to build a brighter and more sustainable future for our nation.
India is blessed with abundant sunlight. The question was โ how do we turn this blessing into an opportunity? This government decided to act. From launching the National Solar Mission to setting an ambitious target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, India has taken giant strides toward energy independence.
We have already achieved a solar capacity of over 70 GW โ a tenfold increase since 2014. Today, India is among the top solar energy producers in the world. The International Solar Alliance, which we initiated, now unites over 120 countries, leading the charge for global energy transition.
This is not just about energy; this is about empowering every Indian. Solar energy is lighting up the homes of farmers, reducing electricity bills for middle-class families, and ensuring clean energy access in the remotest corners of our country.
Take the PM-KUSUM Yojana, for instance. It allows our farmers to produce their own solar power, use it for irrigation, and even sell surplus energy. This is Atmanirbhar Bharat in actionโour farmers are not just food providers but now energy providers too.
From the vast solar parks in Rajasthan to the rooftop panels in Gujarat, from the floating solar plants in Kerala to Ladakh's high-altitude solar projects, India is showing the world that development and sustainability can go hand in hand.
This solar revolution is not just about numbers. It is about fighting climate change, reducing our carbon footprint, and securing a future for our children. It is about turning India into a global hub for solar manufacturing, creating green jobs, and boosting our economy.
But I must remind you, the power of this revolution lies in your hands. Every time you install a solar panel on your rooftop, every time you opt for renewable energy, you contribute to this mission. Together, let us make India the global leader in clean energy.
