Israel’s Attack on Lebanon: A for
September 17, 2024, at 3:00 PM, a significant event shook the world: Israel launched a smart, non-conventional attack on Hezbollah in Lebanon. This wasn’t a typical missile strike. Instead, 3,000 mini-explosions, concealed in devices resembling pagers, detonated in different locations. These explosions, orchestrated by Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad and cyber unit 8600, resulted in 25 deaths and over 2,800 injuries. The pagers, initially ordered by Hezbollah from Vietnam to coordinate their operations, were rigged by Israel months earlier. This attack demonstrated the immense potential of modern technology, which can cause massive destruction remotely without detection.Should India Be Cautious?
Absolutely. India must learn from such incidents and enhance its readiness. Israel’s use of advanced technology has shown how small, precise strikes can cause enormous damage. If a country like China, which exports vast quantities of electronic goods to India, were to employ similar tactics, are we prepared? Many of the electronic devices we use daily, such as mobile phones, TVs, laptops, and more, are manufactured in China. If any of these devices were compromised with explosives or malicious software, it would pose a severe national security threat. Therefore, I urge the Indian government to impose stricter inspections on imported goods, particularly from China, and prioritize 'Make in India' projects. This would reduce dependency on foreign technology and strengthen our ability to produce essential goods domestically. The Need for Educational Reform
Our education system also needs to evolve. In today's world, practical learning and project-based work should take precedence over traditional rote learning. Only then can we equip the younger generation with the skills required to innovate and compete globally. Despite initiatives like 'Digital India,' we are still largely consumers of foreign technology. Platforms like Gmail, Google, Facebook, and Twitter dominate our digital landscape, with no Indian alternatives that can compete on the same scale. While innovations like UPI have gained global recognition, India remain
