To all those new CAs, Half CAs and Future CAs:
As you are aware, today was another important day for all CA aspirants as another set of CA Final and CA CPT results got announced. CA Course has seen last year as "an year of change" with new curriculum coming in. Hence, this was the last time we have a batch solely with old syllabus. As usual results are positive and negative. But overall result percentages are to be considered good at 15% people clearing each groups. As per the details being circulated, we have about 9479 candidates are qualified as Chartered Accountant today.
So first i would like to address them. "The Fresh set of Chartered Accountants"
Congratulations! You should feel really proud of yourself for having achieved those prefix to your name. Your journey of sheer hardwork had paid off in the end. Take a moment to feel that champion inside you. (Dance around and smile in sleep :) )
1. Now that you have qualified, what is coming is the most important phase in your life. You need to make choices. Till now it would have been easy for you to choose, Internship>Classes>Exams was an easy choice. What you choose next would define your career and life.
2. My biggest advice to all young CAs out there is to take a moment. Do not jump on to anything. Finish your Communication course and apply for your CA membership (many people delay this for no reason).
3. Now lets talk about your choice on career. As you are aware, your options are two either industry or practice. (Few choose to do business these days, passionate enough and have fund backing, then its a wonderful thing to do, no doubt).
4. Sit back, take time, talk to seniors, Introspect! keep doing it for sometime! Find out the areas that excited you in your CA studies. See the prospects for the future and financial stability it would give you. Find out that area you wanted to focus on. You need to think in about your career 5 years down the line.
"End of the day make it your choice - profound and clear".
5. If you want to build a career in industry, my suggestion would be to choose your first job carefully (even if it takes few months , do not bother), you need to spare atleast 2-3 years in your first job to find a growing change of employment and it is very difficult to change the profile and industry after few years (That is not impossible, it is little challenging, after all your competency matters).
6. So gear up and make a good CV for yourself (Be different - a Prezi CV is an example of being different). Start making yourself ready for campus and off campus interviews. Talk to your industry friends and seniors and update yourself with the changes and be interview ready (Big4s and MNCs will have many rounds).
7. Do not stop at CA. You have wonderful set of post qualification courses available (Few Eg: DipIFRS, CISA/DISA, CFA, FRM,etc). Choose it based on the industry and interests and start making you more competent.
8. Lastly, A wonderful future is waiting for you. As the responsibility in life increases, do not forget to enjoy yourself. Take that break you always talked about, travel and have fun.
Now you people who are on the road to put the prefix in May. The half CAs who made it in one group you appeared and felt that sense of relief today.
1. Make sure that you take this success for planning your may exam with full confidence. Analyse the scores in that papers and identify areas of improvement you can make in May.
2. Do not let anything affect your preparation for May exam, commit to yourself to give everything you have got to get the next half added. You are at an advantage now, so gear up for success in may to be a chartered accountant. You already know what works for you the best.
For those future CAs, those who had faced that pinch of failure in todays results. Lets have an understanding of what happened and what you need to do to make a difference in may. It does not matter how many times you have faced failure as long you are committed to make that change success is waiting for you in may exams. (A few friends are really unlucky to miss it that close, if you may try your luck with recounting).
1. Take a day maximum to get back to normal. Understand, you are not the only person who has faced failure in this exam. You have somany success stories around you of people who failed multiple times. Think for a second, if they had decided to stay down with their initial failure, what would have been their life?
2. You need to gear up for may with "better preparations". You have about 3 and half months for the examination, you need to take decision on whether you wanna write both groups or wanna choose one group. (Considering Old syllabus is available till november, you still have that option). Once you decide that, first step is to plan your preparations.
3. "Better" would be the word you need to keep in mind. Considering the scores you need to do things better (For example if you have done 400 qns last time make sure you add another 400 to your arsenal so that you will have lesser surprise in may).
4. Apply for a certified copy of your answersheet (You might receive it late) and compare your answers with suggested answers to get an idea on better presentations you can do in may.
5. CA final exam tests candidates on concept clarity in each subject, so if you think you lack that in any subject, you can attend some crash classes to fasten up the preparations (If in a place where no classes available, online videos).
6. Prepare a plan, dividing your day into multiple study sessions and keeping some time for revisions daily. Keep weekly milestones to cover mixing with periodic model exam. Do not forget to keep yourself motivated everytime (Yoga, workouts and meditations would help)
7. Above all this, all you need is the highest level of GRIT - Attitude of not giving up. None has achieved anything in life without failing at some walks of life. Those people who show up after facing failure and not accepting it right away make histoy in their life. You have got everything you need for making history. Now its show time.
"LET YOUR HARDWORK BE IN SILENCE AND SUCCESS MAKE ALL THE NOISE"
Hope this is helpful for all. Do catch up for any help. Thanks!
