The UK is one of the top choices for International students looking to study abroad. With numerous flabbergasting methodologies and lifestyle, it becomes a hub of innovative ideas and zealous achievements. International students come from over 200 different nations, making the UK a global, vibrant and diverse destination for International education. There are numerous reasons which make the UK a popular destination for higher studies among Indian students, too.

1. Internationally recognized Universities & Qualifications

The UK has multi-faculty universities and globally renowned educational institutions. The UK includes four of the world’s leading top universities for an instance the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, according to a renowned University Rankings report. A degree from the UK university is recognized worldwide by universities, employers and government institutions. Usually, the degrees in the UK take one year less to complete than what it takes in the USA. The universities provide importance to the curriculum content and in-depth research. The international market value of the degree from such renowned premium institutes prove to be a cherry on the cake of strong potential base and personality development.

The UK also focuses to collaborate and work with the universities from the States, Auckland and others abroad, trying to put the focus on this aspect in their five-year strategic planning. Such tie-ups increase global interactions, in the direction to cease the stereotype barriers in the education inviting other countries to their own land, for the exchange of knowledge.

2. Extensive Curriculum Options

The UK is considered to be one of the leading international educational hubs providing quality education. A recent QS ranking report suggests London as the 5th best student-friendly city in the world. The UK is known for providing a wide choice of curriculum options and institutions. One can choose from 1,50,000 courses at universities across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The one-year duration Master’s course in the UK is an added advantage. Shorter duration courses reduce tuition and living costs.

3. Research focus Universities

Universities in the UK have an enormous research income which attracts talented academicians from across the globe. With an emphasis on research, students get ample opportunities and ready support system to pursue their careers in research. The UK provides attractive career options with strong research infrastructure in clinical sciences, health & medical sciences, business, social sciences, and humanities.

For an instance, the UPS (Uninterrupted Power System) and other such technologically developed systems ensure the correct nourishing of the innovative minds and build an environment of trust about the institutions, in the minds of young entrepreneurs and researchers.

4. Work during education

International students in the UK gain work experience along with their course curriculum by opting for a part-time job. The work experience is also included as part of the curriculum for many colleges. It also helps the student develop add-on skills which can enrich the CV in providing future placements.

5. Work permit after education

The UK has student-friendly policies to work post-graduation. Recent post-Brexit visas and immigration strategy is expected to benefit both Indian students and professionals. The plans will focus on individuals skills rather than the country of origin. The UK’s future skills-based immigration system which is set to be phased in from December 2021 will have a positive impact on the students allowing them to stay on for longer to work. The changes are proposed to attract international students and convey the message that the UK values the skills more than the country of origin thus imparting knowledge and opportunities based on the talent and capabilities rather than the past background.

6. Health Benefits for International Students

Indian students enrolled in a full-time course can avail free medical treatment by the NHS (National Health Service). Also, spouse/partner/dependent children residing with the student is exempted from the health expenses. Few colleges have specific health policy for their students, too. Several institutions also have the provision of medical insurance that is acceptable until the student is enrolled in the specific course of the University. Availabilities of the facilities are subjected to the study period also.

With a wider approach to the concept of treatment, mental health is considered equally important in the system. Due to this, serious measures are taken on the issue of mental illness where the emphasis is laid on counseling. Celebration of “Mental Health Awareness Week” during exam times is one of the notable measures.

Thus, the UK takes proper care of the qualitative human resources that decide to invest their assets to gain rich quality of education as well as experience.

7. Financial Aid for International Students

With maximum population inclining towards the working class, it is legit for most of the students to be relied on the financial backup to achieve their dreams and flaunt to the zenith.

Indian students are provided with a list of scholarships and financial aids to support their study and living costs. Aids is available at graduate, postgraduate and research level for all the students.

8. Cross-Culture Experience

With English being the most viable language for cross border communication, staying in the UK gives an experience of savoring the British nuances, the British attitude and the way of dealing with things. With management being an integral part of the culture of any area, knowing the pros and cons of that locality helps them to manage and deal with the situations. Variety of international interactions help to broaden the vision and develop a set of communication skills and problem-solving aptitude over the period of time.

The UK thus provides numerous cultural offerings enriching their stay. Indian students form the 2nd most abundant group in the international student community. London itself has more than 1000 museums and galleries, and most of them are free to visit. With ample opportunities to meet fellow international students, one develops a range of skills that are requisite to be a part of today’s globally competitive workforce.
