Flow Cytometry Experiments for COVID-19 Research.

Researchers have found COVID-19 Infection is significantly altering the host immune system. There is a significant decrease in the T cell counts, however there are frequent incidents of Cytokine storm with completely unknown mechanism. It could be an opportunity to know something more about the immune system. When the objective is to study the tiny "Soldiers", there is no tool better than Flow Cytometry. This meeting is to discuss various types of experiments that can be incorporated in to COVID -19 studies. I will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these experiments

What we did in last 100 days.
We planned and executed a series of workshops on Flow Cytometry. The activities included Marketing, Planning, Resource arrangement and finally conducting the workshops. We conducted 12 workshops and 1 awareness camp, with these activities we reached about 700 students and 50 faculties with our flow Cytometer .
And it took just three of us to do all this.
Thanks Sreyashi Dhar for playing the all different roles in taking the marketing lead to organizing the workshops as well as contributing as resource person. Swarnendu Chandra, PhD, thanks for being there, just in time to help us handle the overloaded workshops.

We also started a "Center for Flow Cytometry" in collaboration with RV College of Engineering, Bangalore with one dedicated flow cytometer for extensive and advanced training programs and for the researchers to conduct their flow experiments.
