1️⃣ Your age, graduation year, or address
2️⃣ Whether you have a cover letter or not
3️⃣ If you’ve had multiple job changes or career gaps — life happens
4️⃣ Where you take your interview from — office, car, cafe, or terrace
5️⃣ If you’re introverted or pause before replying
6️⃣ If you haven’t worked for a “brand-name” company yet
7️⃣ Whether your resume is in PDF or Word format
8️⃣ If you’re restarting after a break — parenting, caregiving, illness, burnout, or relocation — all are valid.

DISASTER! So, I interviewed a highly recommended candidate. The interview was a nightmare. She was so nervous she could barely communicate. A deer in the headlight. She BOMBED miserably. Still I couldn't get past my gut feeling she was the best candidate for the job.

Is it possible to overlook a poor interview performance?

I gambled and decided to give her a try and within 6 months, she was one of my top performers.
Sometimes it’s hard to know a candidate's full capabilities in a job interview.

We shouldn't be too quick to cross someone off who doesn’t interview well. The truth is interviews can be nerve-wracking.

There is so much more to a person than just passing / failing an interview.
