FCRA licence of 5 NGOs cancelled as per law, says MHA: FCRA licences of multiple NGOs were canceled due to alleged foreign fund misuse, sparking debates on societal impact and future actions for organizations like Evangelical Fellowship of India amidst a broader trend of license cancellations.Among the NGOs that lost their FCRA licences were CNI Synodical Board of Social Service, Voluntary Health Association of India, Indo-Global Social Service Society, Church Auxiliary for Social Action and Evangelical Fellowship of India, added officials.

UBS Launches New Net Zero-Aligned S&P 500-Based ETF: UBS Asset Management (UBS AM) announced the launch of the S&P 500 Climate Transition ESG UCITS ETF, a new exchange traded fund aimed at investors seeking U.S. large cap exposure with net zero alignment and an improved ESG profile.

Listed across European exchanges, including the London Stock Exchange, Xetra, Borsa Italiana and SIX Swiss Exchange, the new fund is the first UCITS ETF to track a climate transition index based on the S&P 500 universe. The fund is classified as Article 9 under the EU’s SFDR regulation.The EU’s Climate Transition Benchmark label indicates that a benchmark’s underlying assets are selected, weighted or excluded in a way that ensures the benchmark is aligned with a 1.5ºc warming trajectory, incorporating at least a 30% emissions reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions relative to the market index, and annual self-decarbonization of 7%, while adhering to diversification and risk-adjusted return characteristics. It also excludes certain activities such as controversial weapons.

Torrent's Mehta family pledges Rs 5,000 crore to UNM Foundation: The Mehta family of the Torrent Group has pledged to donate Rs 5,000 crore over five years to the UNM Foundation in honor of founder U N Mehta's birth centenary. Mehta overcame personal challenges to build a successful business, and the foundation will focus on various social causes without discrimination.Pharmaceuticals-to-energy Torrent Group's Mehta family has pledged to donate Rs 5,000 crore over the next five years to the philanthropic foundation set up in name of the group's founder U N Mehta as part of his birth centenary celebrations, the group said on Sunday. Torrent Group celebrated the birth centenary of its founder late Uttambhai Nathalal Mehta (January 14, 1924 to March 31, 1998).
The Mehta family has committed to donate Rs 5,000 crore over the next five years to the UNM Foundation to honour the legacy of the visionary philanthropist

Threaded with Hope: UltraTech's Empowering Journey with Rural Women in Tamil Nadu: Though the fight has observed astonishing progress, the sword of persistent challenges still looms over women's empowerment. From a corporate boardroom to a remote village, women in every corner of the globe still encounter numerous struggles that impede their advancement, growth, and opportunities to stand and showcase their true selves to the world. The unit has taken five villages—Kumpinipet, Melpakkam, Thandalam, Parithiputhur, and Chitteri—for their transformative project involving progressing livelihood and economic independence. Women from these villages are then given basic training in tailoring and embroidery as a part of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

MHA extends till June 30 validity of FCRA registered NGOs: The Union home ministry on Thursday extended till June 30 the validity of all FCRA registered NGOs whose licences are expiring on March 31, in a relief to those whose renewal applications are still under consideration. The ministry has also given time till June 30 to all NGOs whose five-year validity period is expiring between April 1, 2024, and June 30, 2024, so that they can apply for renewal before the expiry of their validity.
The home ministry also said the validity of those FCRA registered entities whose five-year validity period is expiring from April 1, 2024, to June 30, 2024, and who have applied or will apply for renewal before the expiry of the five-year validity period will stand extended up to June 30, 2024, or till the date of disposal of the renewal application, whichever is earlier.
