The GST Council may today approve tax cuts on items that fall within the 28% slab and slash rates for daily use items, plastic products and hand-made furniture as it looks to provide relief to consumers. The Council, headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, may also cut tax rates for the composition scheme businesses to 1% and lower rates for non-AC restaurants.

Important updates - GST Council meeting 22nd Meeting update

1. Turnover for Composition Scheme raised - 1cr ( from 75 lakhs)

2. e-way bill deferred till 31st march, 2018

3. reverse charge abolished till 31st March, 2018

4. Quarterly returns for taxpayers with annual turnover less than 1.5 cr
