The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has rolled out a pilot project on entrepreneurship development in the holy city of Kollur, Karnataka. The project aims to develop the enterprises in Kollur town of Byndoor taluk, Udupi district of Karnataka. The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), based in Guwahati, is implementing this project under the Ministry of Skill Development a
nd Entrepreneurship, Government of India, with Access Livelihoods Consulting India Limited as the Local Implementing Agency (LIA). The project aims to engage the residents of the Temple Town of Kollur in entrepreneurial activities, promote entrepreneurship and mentor micro and small businesses. The project focuses on existing businesses (with or without a credit history, hoping to resume or scale up) and new enterprises. The local implementing agency, Access Livelihoods (AL), will identify the scope, assess the current situation, and then go on to an implementation phase of identifying beneficiaries and training for skill gaps and competencies. Finally, handhold and mentor them to support and provide access to finance, markets, mentors to operationalise their plans. The LIA shall ensure that a minimum number of 300 existing enterprises and early-stage entrepreneurs benefit from this project.
