Why growth in EPS Is the holy grain of investing .

EPS - Earning per share is a product we get when we divide net profit by no. Of equity shares . It tells us the financial health of a company which navigates its growth potential .

As the EPS grows , company demands better P/E ( Price to earning ratio) which in turn moves the stock prices up.

Continuous growth in EPS soon gets reflected in the stock price.

Both EPS and P/E growth is essential.

How interest rate hikes works in the economic environment -

Whenever any economy goes through a turmoil (eg covid, liquidity crunch), government tends to bring more money in the ecosystem (quantitative easing).

This means printing of more money, lowering the interest rates in the economy- All of this is done to increase the money flow so that people can access money at the cheaper rates and fuel their consumption needs to go through these conditions.

All of this comes with a problem - INFLATION.
See when the consumption increases due to cheap availability of money . The purchasing power also increases which results into more demand of products/services.

But the catch is - Supply is not enough to meet this increased demand . So to tackle this demand , prices are increased across sectors (Inflation). Now. as the prices of goods/services shoots up , Govt. has to curb the consumption to control the inflation.

The only way to do that is to increase the interest rates in the environment - This makes all types of loan expensive . And people curb their not so urgent consumption needs for eg buying a car . This lowers the demand and prices .
