This important study aims to generate robust evidence on the current status of rainwater harvesting across Bharat by documenting:

💧 Traditional and modern rainwater harvesting practices

💧 Successful urban, rural and agricultural models

💧 Costs, benefits and climate resilience outcomes

💧 Barriers, opportunities and recommendations for scaling up RWH

We are proud to celebrate the completion of an insightful report authored by PWS Partner, Ms. Jyoti Khare titled "Synthesis Report on Water Quality Issues in India, with Spotlight on Marginalized Communities in the Central Plateau Region of India" for National Institute of Women, Child and Youth Development , a prestigious organisation working in social sector in India.

The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the current water quality scenario in India, highlighting critical challenges such as contamination, inadequate treatment infrastructure, emerging pollutants, and the pressing need for sustainable water resource management. It also underscores the importance of strengthening policy frameworks, community engagement, and evidence-based interventions to ensure safe and equitable access to clean water for all.

Climate change is already disrupting school WASH in India: longer droughts and groundwater depletion make school water supplies unreliable, while extreme rainfall and flooding damage toilets, water systems, and drainage, and increase contamination risks. UNICEF notes that around 48% of schools lacked basic handwashing facilities, and UDISE+ 2024–25 data show that although over 99% of schools report a drinking-water facility and over 94% report functional toilets, the climate challenge is increasingly about reliability, safety, functionality, and resilience during heat, drought, and flood events rather than simple infrastructure presence.

On World Environment Day 2026, PWS is happy to open its one more service model in WASH namely *Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Rating Services for School* for schools in Lucknow rural and urban areas.

The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Rating Services for School" is based on school site visit and assessment by our trained staff , collecting water sample for water quality surveillance and advisory for continuous improvement towards climate change resilient WASH facilities in schools . As a school, you get a rating certificate improving your overall performance as a and brand image as a school and a water quality surveillance report with advisory on further water purification, if needed. This will also help you in CBSE and other educational board's norms compliance on Sanitary and Hygiene conditions of schools and water quality of drinking water available in schools.
