Vlog Camera and our venture into the untamed:
Since we've been exposed to the era of smartphones, we've always loved the capability to do more and more things on a portable form factor. Whether you love or hate smartphones, you cannot ignore the fact that they are becoming more and more capable while also becoming more and more affordable. The whole idea is captivating in the sense that it allows freedom like never before. It gives us a way to be more agile, more effective and allows for a much better organisational structure. That too, is just the tip of the iceberg and we will see it being applied to more and more avenues over time.
Having said that there has always been an inherent problem(so to say) with the approach that smartphone makers have taken on as decisions regarding their form factors and usability have been taken. They have always been designed for convenience and being more usable in different situations and hence they have never come to become good creation devices. You might never see people drawing on their iPads, editing video on their iPhones or their competitors for that matter. Even if they do, it never turns out to be anywhere as good as something designed on a conventional computer(laptops and desktops). They have been there to do everything else but have not been up to the mark when it comes to creation. Nobody has quite cracked it yet and hence there is a lot of scope to improve upon what is being done here. So much so that we have created our own mobile software division which takes on this particular challenge.
As the first step into this long path, we've done something for the people who like to create videos using their smartphones. We've tried to eliminate their editing time down to almost zero. We see people spend a lot of time adding effects into their videos at the time of editing. We think, the usability of smartphones allows for a better approach to that. With Vlog Camera, people can apply, change or remove video effects even while the recording is on. We picture the person using the app and the people involved in the video as performers and give them tools to make their content better. Which is very well suited to vloggers. Thus we gave it the name Vlog Camera. That's what differentiates our approach from everything else we've seen thus far. We're stopping there either. We're going to give the users of vlog camera, the ability to create their own effects and sharing the effects they've created with other users of the app in our effects marketplace. There is also editor functionality coming to the app in the very near future. Following which, the users will be able to record, edit and share their videos to places like YouTube right inside one app, without ever having to switch apps.
We think this is a very good beginning to this attempt to introduce much better content creation on the go. We hope to come up with more such forays. We have a lot coming down the pipe but there will be more on that later. Till then, do try out Vlog Camera, which is available on the iOS App Store on the following link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vlog-camera/id791117078?ls=1&mt=8
