people dedicated fighting poverty. As compared to approximately 2 lakh (1 lakh=100,000) car sales, 12 lakh motor cycle sales, 150 lakh bicycles sell in India annually. Solar panels & sunshine again represent to India which has more than 300 sunny days receiving a high sun intensity at 4-7 KWh / square meter. So even if 1% of the available land area in India was dedicated to solar energy even with an average 10% efficiency of solar panels the installed capacity will be 800 GW OR 5 times the current total installed power capacity in the country. Oxfam the unit fighting against poverty is again related to India with 60% of rural India unfortunately living on less than Rs 35 / day (US $0.5/day). The rider represents the risk taking entrepreneur or shall we say solopreneur (single lone struggler). When you start from an average middle class family, when there are no investors, when there is no media support and your audience has a poor purchasing power with anything above Rs 100 as expensive and yet you learn to survive, sustain & grow your business it is an achievement. 🔥 LPG life cycle

For an LPG cylinder used in India, the chain may look like this:

1. Oil or gas extraction (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Russia, India, etc.)
2. Gas processing and refining
3. LPG bottling
4. Storage terminals
5. Ocean tanker transport (for imports)
6. Rail transport within India
7. Road transport by tankers
8. Cylinder filling plant
9. Truck delivery to distributor
10. Delivery by mini truck/tempo to your home

Every step consumes diesel or electricity and adds greenhouse gas emissions.

Backyard biogas life cycle for a household biodigester :

1. Kitchen waste generated at home
2. Walk 5–10 metres to the digester
3. Anaerobic digestion
4. Gas flows through a short pipe
5. Burn on the stove

There is virtually no fuel transportation, no refinery, no bottling and no distribution network.

🐮 1 liter milk boiling LPG Vs Biogas

Step 1: Heat required to boil 1 litre of milk

Assume:

1 litre milk ≈ 1.03 kg
Temperature: 25°C → 100°C
Specific heat ≈ 3.9 kJ/kg·K
Heat required:
≈ 300–330 kJ

With a 50% efficient stove:

Fuel energy needed ≈ 600–660 kJ LPG
Calorific value ≈ 46 MJ/kg
LPG required: ≈ 13–15 g

Every kg of LPG produces about 3.0 kg CO₂

Therefore: CO₂ emitted ≈ 39–45 g

Typical pollutants:

🌞🍚🔥 Today's Lunch – A Small Energy Experiment in the Village 🏡

Today our kitchen was temporarily out of operation as termite-damaged wooden cabinets were being replaced with HDHMR boards.

Yet lunch was cooked with almost no LPG!

🍚 Rice – cooked in a Solar Cooker using free sunlight.

🥣 Dal & Kaddu Sabzi – cooked on Kitchen Waste Biodigester Gas. The biodigester produces about 1 hour of usable gas every 18–24 hours, and even after cooking lunch, around 30 minutes of gas still remains.

Meanwhile, during this June 2026 village visit, long queues for LPG cylinders were seen, with refill prices touching around ₹1,800.

💡 A simple idea to reduce LPG consumption:

☀️ Boiling work (Rice, Dal, Milk, Water) → Solar Cooker

🔥 Frying work (Roti, Sabzi, Tadka) → Biodigester Methane Flame

⚡ Electric appliances such as Rice Cookers, Milk Boilers and Induction Cooktops can also help where electricity is available.

🛢️ LPG should ideally be the last resort, not the first choice.

Small changes in cooking habits can reduce fuel bills, improve energy security and make use of resources that are otherwise wasted.

🌞🍚🔥 आज का दोपहर का भोजन – ऊर्जा आत्मनिर्भरता की एक छोटी सी झलक 🏡

आज रसोई कुछ समय के लिए बंद थी क्योंकि दीमक द्वारा क्षतिग्रस्त लकड़ी के कैबिनेट हटाकर उनकी जगह HDHMR बोर्ड लगाए जा रहे थे।

फिर भी दोपहर का भोजन लगभग बिना LPG के तैयार हो गया!

🍚 चावल – सोलर कुकर में सूर्य की निःशुल्क ऊर्जा से पकाए गए।

🥣 दाल और कद्दू की सब्ज़ी – रसोई के जैविक कचरे से बने बायोडाइजेस्टर गैस पर पकाई गई। यह बायोडाइजेस्टर 18–24 घंटे में लगभग 1 घंटे की उपयोगी गैस देता है, और भोजन बनने के बाद भी लगभग 30 मिनट की गैस शेष है।

इस जून 2026 के गाँव प्रवास में LPG सिलेंडर के लिए लंबी कतारें देखने को मिलीं और कीमत लगभग ₹1,800 तक पहुँच चुकी है।

💡 LPG की खपत कम करने का एक सरल उपाय:

☀️ उबालने वाले कार्य (चावल, दाल, दूध, पानी) → सोलर कुकर

🔥 रोटी, सब्ज़ी, तड़का आदि → बायोडाइजेस्टर मीथेन गैस

⚡ जहाँ बिजली उपलब्ध हो वहाँ राइस कुकर, मिल्क बॉयलर और इंडक्शन कुकर का भी उपयोग किया जा सकता है।

🛢️ LPG को पहली नहीं, अंतिम विकल्प के रूप में उपयोग करना चाहिए।

छोटे-छोटे बदलाव ईंधन खर्च कम कर सकते हैं, ऊर्जा सुरक्षा बढ़ा सकते हैं और उन संसाधनों का उपयोग कर सकते हैं जो अन्यथा व्यर्थ चले जाते हैं।

Before 2024 we as an ordinary middle class Indian family were dependent on Gulf oil for our petrol costing Rs 6-8,000 per month

After the electric car electricity from coal fired thermal power plants bills around March 2026 around 140 KWh per month which is approx Rs 1,120 per month

In April 2026 roof solar panels now charge the car so effectively Rs 0 electricity bill.

Costs for old car rehauling were Rs 5 lakhs & solar panels inverter charging Rs 2 lakhs so total investment Rs 7 lakhs

But not everyone can overhaul an old electric car. A new electric car would be approx Rs 10 lakhs & Solar 5 KVA should be possible in under Rs 5 lakhs. So today in 2026 Rs 15 lakhs can buy a full solar powered electric car set-up.
