About the Campaign
The Ministry of Mines will launch E-Waste Collection Drive 5.0 from 2nd to 31st October 2025, under the leadership of JNARDC (Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development & Design Centre, Nagpur).
The initiative is supported by:
• Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM)
• Geological Survey of India (GSI)
• NALCO | HCL | MECL | Hindalco | Vedanta | HZL
• National Institute of Rock Mechanics (NIRM)
The Importance of E-Waste Recycling
• E-waste is hazardous: Improper disposal pollutes air, water, and soil.
• E-waste is valuable: It contains gold, copper, and rare earth elements (RRE) critical for industries.
• Recycling saves resources: Reduces dependence on mining and conserves natural wealth.
• Protects the future: Supports sustainable development and a cleaner environment.
How the Drive Works
Collection across cities – Special collection points will be set up.
Safe disposal – E-waste will be sent only to authorised recyclers.
Resource recovery – Precious metals and minerals will be extracted and reused.
Benefits of the Drive

Hindustan Zinc (HZL), जो कि वेदांता ग्रुप की सहायक कंपनी है, ने 2030 तक अपने उत्पाद पोर्टफोलियो में 3 से 4 नई धातुओं को शामिल करने की योजना बनाई है। कंपनी जिंक, लेड और सिल्वर के अलावा अब नियोडिमियम, टंगस्टन और पोटाश जैसी महत्वपूर्ण धातुओं के उत्पादन पर फोकस करेगी। CEO अरुण मिश्रा के अनुसार, आने वाले दो साल अन्वेषण (exploration) और उसके बाद दो साल खनन व स्मेल्टिंग प्लांट की स्थापना पर खर्च होंगे।

HZL ने पहले ही पोटाश, टंगस्टन और अन्य खनिज ब्लॉक्स हासिल कर लिए हैं और भारत में नियोडिमियम उत्पादन के लिए विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त ब्लॉक भी अपने पास रखता है। कंपनी भविष्य में सोना, प्लैटिनम, लिथियम और ग्रेफाइट जैसे अन्य क्रिटिकल मिनरल्स की खोज पर भी ध्यान दे रही है। इस कदम से HZL खुद को एक मल्टी-मेटल खिलाड़ी के रूप में स्थापित कर देश की खनन क्षमता और रणनीतिक खनिज सुरक्षा को मजबूती देगा।

JP Associates का नया मालिक
17000 करोड़ की बोली लगाकर वेदांता ग्रुप ने गौतम अदाणी को पछाड़ते हुए जयप्रकाश एसोसिएट्स का अधिग्रहण कर लिया। अब इसके नए मालिक होंगे उद्योगपति अनिल अग्रवाल।

जेपी के पास रियल एस्टेट, सीमेंट प्लांट, होटल, टोल और इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर प्रोजेक्ट्स हैं, जिनमें नोएडा का जेपी ग्रीन्स, जेपी इंटरनेशनल स्पोर्ट्स सिटी और जेवर एयरपोर्ट के पास की प्रॉपर्टीज शामिल हैं।

57,000 करोड़ से ज्यादा के कर्ज में डूबी इस कंपनी को IBC प्रक्रिया के तहत बेचा गया। अदाणी और वेदांता में कड़ी टक्कर हुई, लेकिन आखिरकार वेदांता ने बाजी मार ली।
