The project involved designing the façade and garden lighting for a neoclassical mansion dating back to the latter half of the 19th century. The lighting design focused on enhancing the mansion’s architecture and its classical details while maintaining its historic character. Simple and multiple types of lights were thoughtfully integrated to highlight different elements of the façade and landscape, ensuring visual balance.

The logo for Ars Lucis was developed to visually express the organisation’s core mission, the art of stained glass. The design draws inspiration on one hand from the qualities of filtered light, durability, and precision found in Gothic stained-glass windows, and on the other hand from the modern stained-glass works created by Prof. Em. Joost Caen in the Leuven Carthusian Monastery.

The principles of golden ratio shaped the logo, creating a harmonious composition reflecting the art it represents. By conveying the essence of stained glass art into a contemporary visual language, the logo bridges traditional and modern interpretation.

This once-lived-in space now stands quietly in the margins of the city’s everyday rush, a structure that has seen its own richness fade into silence. Its walls carry the weight of stories long forgotten, holding on to memories even as its identity slips further from the present. Amidst the noise of the world around it, this place remains a rare pocket of stillness—where traces of the past linger, gentle but unshakable.

Sharing pictures and the graphical representation of the landscape design proposal given by Dharatal for the area in front of the heritage sites of Jahangir Mahal and Laxminarayan Temple in Orchha. The design integrates native plant species such as Palash, Mahua, Kalahari, Babul, Durva grass, Kusha grass, etc. which are resilient to the regional climate. These native and local plant varieties support local biodiversity and require minimum maintenance while providing consistent blooms. Benches, signage and viewing points have been designed to enhance the visitor experience while preserving the site’s cultural value.

The landscape concept for Jahangir Mahal draws inspiration from the natural and ever-changing form and flow of the Betwa river and the structured layout of the Rai Praveen Bagh, reflecting both the fluidity and order of Orchha’s historic landscape.

In heritage sites, landscape design plays an important role in weaving the built heritage with its natural surroundings.

We eagerly await proposed plantation by the concerned authorities of the landscapes after handing over the hardscape works and basis of the landscape proposal.

TONI KANWA ADIKUSUMAH | OLAH JIWA – Expression of the Soul

Dharatal is excited to share to be the graphical designer for developing the exhibition brochure and gift cards for the indonesian artist Toni Kanwa Adikusumah. He creates art as a ritual, a bridge between the visible and the invisible. His hand-carved wooden and bronze sculptures breathe vitality and Spirit, born from ancestral knowledge and deep reverence for nature.

Inspired by encounters with Indigenous cultures across the Indonesian archipelago and beyond, Kanwa’s work celebrates the living bond between human, nature, and the sacred.

OLAH JIWA invites you to feel, listen, and reconnect with the soul of existence where love, peace, and joy takes form. Exhibition: Chemin des Soeurs 1, 1320 Nodebais, Belgium. From 9 November to 30 November 2025.

Intern Diaries

“An equally important part of my internship was the city of Lucknow itself. The warmth of its people, the richness of its culture, and the charm in its everyday life made the city feel like home away from home. Dharatal supported me throughout this journey encouraging me to explore, suggesting places to visit, and constantly reinforcing my growth with positive affirmations. From engaging with locals to understanding the city’s community fabric, Lucknow offered lessons beyond architecture.
Grateful to Dharatal for not only shaping my professional journey but also giving me the opportunity to truly experience and belong to this beautiful city.”

Intern Diaries

“Six Months at Dharatal - Lucknow,
My internship at Dharatal, Lucknow has been a journey of exploration and growth where I was not only involved in the ex*****on but was an active part of the design process. My learning was always prioritised, with constant emphasis on understanding what I was gaining from each task.

During this time, I worked on residential projects, heritage documentation and conservation work. Each project allowed me to take responsibility for my work while being mentored and guided throughout. I was encouraged to explore my interests, learn new software and improve my presentation and communication skills.

Grateful to have been part of a studio that values curiosity, discussion and hands-on learning, where design thinking and personal growth evolve together.”

Traditional knowledge systems for mitigating urban heat stress.

The integration of both active and passive design strategies have a huge impact on creating climate-resilient everyday spaces. While active strategies may not be easily accessible to all, passive design strategies are both cost effective and impactful.
