What is Wet Dhoop?
Wet Dhoop is a type of incense (different from dry incense sticks) that contains moisture. It burns slowly, releases dense smoke, and spreads fragrance for a long time. It is usually made from charcoal powder, wood powder, natural resins, and aromatic oils.
Raw Materials Required
1. Charcoal Powder – burning base
2. Wood Powder / Sawdust – binder & fuel
3. Resins (Guggal, Loban, Jatamansi, etc.) – fragrance & smoke
4. Dhoop Base Powder (e.g., Joss Powder) – binding
5. Natural Oils / Fragrance Oils – aroma
6. Binder (Jaggery solution, Gum Arabic, etc.) - to hold mixture together
7. Water – to maintain moisture
Manufacturing Process
1. Mixing
Mix charcoal, wood powder, and joss powder.
Add resins for fragrance and density.
2. Binding
Add water and binder (gum/jaggery solution) to form a dough-like mixture.
3. Adding Fragrance
Mix in essential oils or fragrance oils.
4. Shaping
Shape into cones, sticks, or small tablets (manually or by machine).
5. Packing
Pack in plastic pouches, jars, or boxes to retain moisture.
