A ship does not sail on strength alone.
It sails on support, sacrifice, resilience, and the courage to create space for every voice on board.
This International Day for Women in Maritime 2026, the Well-being Team brought together cadets, families, officers, and management to move one important conversation from policy… to practice.
Under the theme “The Family’s Role in Maritime Excellence and Gender Mainstreaming,” the day focused on something often overlooked in maritime; the people behind the seafarer.
As part of Anglo-Eastern Women of Seas (AWOS), an initiative by the Anglo-Eastern Well-being Team dedicated to supporting and empowering women in maritime, the celebration created a space for dialogue, awareness, and shared experiences.
Through interactive activities, myth-busting discussions, and meaningful conversations, the event highlighted why inclusion in maritime is not just about representation, but about building an environment where support, understanding, and opportunity exist together.
The discussions also reinforced an important message; at Anglo-Eastern, opportunities at sea are built on merit. Women seafarers stand on equal footing, wearing the same uniform, undergoing the same training, clearing the same examinations, and facing the same challenges with determination and professionalism.
Because when families are included in the conversation, careers become stronger, journeys become healthier, and the industry moves forward together.
To every woman seafarer — rise with confidence, claim your space, and unlock a future of growth and opportunity at sea.
