ICIA presents Across the Century, an exhibition offering insight into Krishen Khanna’s lifelong commitment to painting as inquiry. Through recurring motifs of labour, ritual, and moral contemplation, including the quietly insistent presence of bandwallas, the works reflect continuity as a form of renewal.

Powered by AstaGuru, the exhibition will be on view at the ICIA Building, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, from 21 to 25 January, 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily.

Defined by strong geometry and refined material contrast, this important Art Deco brooch reflects the clarity and structure that shaped jewellery design in the early twentieth century. The composition centres on five collet-set Colombian emerald cabochons, arranged with restraint and framed by old cut, round brilliant, and baguette-cut diamonds set in layered patterns.

Crafted in platinum, this pre-owned brooch displays balanced proportions and precise detailing characteristic of the Art Deco period. Of particular note is the quality of the certified Colombian emeralds, noted for only insignificant clarity enhancement, a feature highly regarded by collectors, along with its documented auction provenance.

Offered in AstaGuru’s upcoming Legacy Jewellery, Silver & Timepieces auction, 15-16 January 2026.

AstaGuru’s Historic Masterpieces auction, held from 14-17 December 2025, concluded with results that marked a notable moment in the year’s auction calendar.

The white-glove sale brought together landmark works that have shaped the narrative of modern Indian art, with several artists establishing new world records.

Among the highlights was Rabindranath Tagore’s From Across The Dark (1937), a rare late Almora work that drew strong collector attention. Krishen Khanna’s The Last Supper further strengthened the results, reaffirming the artist’s enduring relevance within both institutional and private collections. Sadanand Bakre’s Mona Lisa emerged as a defining moment of the auction, establishing a new benchmark for the artist.
The sale also saw notable interest in Gurcharan Singh’s Introspective Times (Triptych) and Walter Langhammer’s Untitled, underscoring continued confidence in historically significant works across generations.

These results highlighted the sustained relevance of historically important works within the auction landscape.
