Correct Driving Angle: Why It Matters & How to Get It Right

Maintaining the right driving angle—or seating and hand position—improves control, comfort, and safety while driving. Here’s how to set it up properly:

1. Seat Position
• Slide seat forward until your feet comfortably reach pedals.
• Knees should be slightly bent when pressing the clutch or brake fully.

2. Seat Backrest Angle
• Recline the backrest so your shoulders stay in contact with the seat even when turning the wheel.
• Ideal angle: 100–110° from the seat base.

3. Steering Wheel Distance
• Hold the wheel at the 9 and 3 o’clock position.
• Your elbows should be slightly bent, not locked.
• Wrists should rest on top of the wheel when stretching arms forward.

4. Headrest & Eye Level
• Top of the headrest should be at eye level.
• You should see the road clearly about 10–12 feet ahead of your car.

5. Mirrors
• Adjust mirrors so you can see with minimal head movement.

Proper driving angle improves reaction time, reduces fatigue, and minimizes injury risk during collisions.
