A throwback to Tianu – The Revival Project, a project rooted in the idea that sometimes, the most meaningful way forward is to look back.Set within a Victorian-era building in Ballard Estate, the project transformed an abandoned, disconnected shell into a furniture store that embraces what already existed - opening up boarded windows, revealing original textures, retaining the exposed brick, wood and metal, and introducing only what was necessary. The architecture was allowed to become a backdrop for the furniture, art and life within it.More than a store, Tianu was an exercise in adaptive reuse - a reminder that revival doesn’t always mean rebuilding. Sometimes, it means looking closely at what we have, giving it new purpose, and allowing old spaces to belong to the present once again.

We’ve always believed that a practice is not just about the work we create, but also about the conversations, experiences and lessons we pass on. Being able to speak to 800+ students from architecture colleges across Mumbai was a truly humbling experience - to share our journey, our projects, our processes, and the many questions that shape the way we think about Architecture.

The theme of ‘The Art of Revival | Explorations in Adaptive Re-use & Urban Regeneration’ feels especially important today. As the next generation steps into shaping our cities, the responsibility is not only to build new, but to understand what already exists - to recognize the value of our built heritage, resources, memories and communities, and find ways to give them a future.

A heartfelt thank you to The Dialogues Design Directory ,Dialogues, sanjay puri architects and Ridhima Prabhu 🧿 for bringing together students from across Mumbai and creating a space for these conversations.

Revisiting The Canvas

Some homes are designed around a view. Some around the people who live in them. The Canvas was always meant to be both.

Set within an Art Deco building overlooking the Queen’s Necklace, the apartment became a quiet backdrop to a family’s life - their art, their rituals, their conversations, and the changing sea beyond.

The spaces flow gently into one another, from the passage that holds their collection to the living room opening out to the city, and the dining area spilling onto a deck made for slow mornings and sunsets.

Here, Art doesn’t simply hang on the walls. It becomes part of the home. Exposed brick niches, plaster, marble, wood and metal create a tactile backdrop, allowing each piece to find its place without competing with the life around it.

Looking back, The Canvas feels less like an apartment and more like a collection of moments - framed by the sea, shaped by the family, and slowly filled with the things they love.

A Home that became a Canvas of itself.
