As parents, Nazia Ali Khan and I have one pretty strict rule at home:

No binge-watching.

“Enough screen time.”
“Go do something else.”
“You can watch the rest tomorrow.”

You know… the usual parent soundtrack. 😄

And then one day, Taha discovered a piece of extremely valuable information.

His mother is a . 🪄

Suddenly, Harry Potter appeared on the screen.

One movie became two. Two became three. And before we knew it, the boy who had been repeatedly warned against binge-watching was deep inside Hogwarts.

I looked at Nazia, expecting parental intervention.

Instead, I saw something unexpected.

Pride. 😂

Apparently, binge-watching is bad for children…

unless they are binge-watching their mother’s favourite series. 😜

Taha had figured out something many adults take years to learn: the rule may be strict, but understanding the person behind the rule can change everything.

Children are innately intelligent. They observe us closely. They understand what excites us, what softens us, and where our contradictions live.

And sometimes, they don’t break the rules.

They simply find the magic hidden inside them. 🪄
