A carpenter’s apprentice once set out with only a hammer in hand.
He fixed what he could. Hinges, frames, even windows that didn’t need fixing. Over time, he stopped seeing what places needed—and started seeing only what he could hit.
That story has stayed with us.
Because in systems work, and honestly, in life, we all have our hammers.
Familiar tools. Trusted methods. Ways of working that once served us well, but slowly start shaping what we notice, how we respond, and what we miss.
We just shared a reflection on this:
What We Reach For, and Why
It’s about the tools we default to, the biases they carry, and the quiet discipline of choosing differently.
If you’ve ever caught yourself doing something out of habit rather than need, you might find something in it.
