Meet Chinmay Gundaram, Jr. Ecology & Biodiversity Analyst at Terracon Ecotech.

With a keen interest in ecology and biodiversity, Chinmay brings a thoughtful and observant approach to his work. For him, working in this field is about more than understanding ecosystems it is about developing greater awareness of our responsibilities towards the natural world.

Beyond the field, Chinmay enjoys sketching, finds inspiration in the mountains, and has a passion for poetry. His environmental pick, Hostile Planet, reflects his curiosity about the resilience and complexity of life on Earth.

We’re Hiring | Analyst – Botany

Terracon Ecotech is looking for an Analyst – Botany to join our team in Santacruz West, Mumbai.

This role is suited for professionals with 2–4 years of relevant field experience and a strong foundation in botany, vegetation surveys, plant species identification, and environmental consulting.

Key responsibilities include:
• Conducting tree censuses and vegetation surveys
• Identifying and documenting plant species
• Collecting, cleaning, validating, and analysing field data
• Preparing technical reports, inventories, and project documentation
• Maintaining accurate geo-tagged records
• Coordinating with project teams during fieldwork
• Travelling to project locations across India as required

What we’re looking for:
• Degree in Botany, Environmental Science, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of plant species identification
• Experience in tree census and field surveys
• Data analysis and documentation skills
• Basic knowledge of Excel, GIS, or similar tools
• Willingness to travel for project assignments
