Two gestures. Two completely different reasons behind them.
If you've caught Ram Kapoor's reel doing the rounds this week, you probably assigned it a "vibe" without knowing exactly why.
Here's what's actually happening:
Wide, repetitive hand movements while making a point aren't about dominance. That's the brain trying to externalize a thought the words alone aren't landing literally shaping the idea in the air because the sentence isn't doing it justice.
Open palms, held toward the listener a beat longer than necessary? Not confidence either. That's a nonverbal "are you still with me?" a bid to keep the room engaged, more common than people think, even from someone who looks completely in control.
Most people jump straight to "confident" or "dominant" because those are the labels we're trained to reach for first. But real confidence has a stillness to it. What you're actually watching here is effort someone working to be understood, and someone making sure they still have the room.
Reading gestures right isn't about picking the flashiest label. It's noticing what the body is actually trying to do.
