ITOCHU enters India’s ammonia storage market with Investment in Aegis Terminal at Port Pipavav

Japanese trading giant ITOCHU Corporation is stepping deeper into India’s fast-growing ammonia market, acquiring a stake in Aegis Terminal (Pipavav) Ltd. and joining the company’s ammonia storage terminal business at Port Pipavav in Gujarat. The investment gives ITOCHU a foothold in what the company describes as India’s first independent ammonia storage terminal, which became operationally ready on August 10. The Port Pipavav facility includes a newly built ammonia storage tank with capacity of about 36,000 metric tons, or 52,000 cubic metres, along with cargo-handling facilities, pipelines and truck-loading and unloading infrastructure....

Revised Policy for Award of Waterfront and Associated Land to Port Dependent Industries (PDI) in Major Port at Indian coast approved by Cabinet.

The Union Cabinet has approved a revised Policy for Award of Waterfront and Associated Land to Port Dependent Industries (Captive Policy), introducing a series of reforms aimed at accelerating private investment through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, improving operational flexibility and strengthening infrastructure development across India's major ports. The revised policy updates the existing Captive Policy of 2016 by enabling existing captive users to expand capacity through new berths, jetties, terminals and single buoy moorings (SBMs), while also providing a framework for extending concession agreements, awarding waterfront to eligible government entities and addressing changes arising from evolving business and regulatory conditions....

Kakinada Gateway Port Limited (KGPL) is progressing at Thondangi in Kakinada, with works by Auro Infra Private Limited and the first phase likely to be completed by December 2026. Fire at petrochemical plant in India injures at least 20 people

- A fire at a petrochemical plant in eastern India injured at least 20 people, five of them critically, police said.
