KPMG in India identifies workforce productivity as one of the country’s most underleveraged manufacturing growth levers. Its research across 130+ large Indian manufacturers highlights the need to redesign work, strengthen frontline capabilities, simplify organisational structures and use digital technologies more effectively.

The report estimates that a systematic productivity transformation could unlock 15–30% productivity gains, reinforcing a key message for manufacturers: technology transformation and workforce transformation need to move together.

For Indian manufacturing to compete globally, the future factory will need not only smarter technology — but smarter ways of working.

Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd (TARIL) has entered the nuclear power segment with an order to supply generator transformers for NPCIL’s Kaiga Units 5 & 6 in Karnataka. The two indigenous 700 MWe PHWR units will together add 1,400 MW of nuclear generation capacity.

Beyond the order itself, the development highlights the growing opportunity for Indian manufacturers to build the engineering, quality and production capabilities required for highly critical infrastructure applications.

As India expands its nuclear energy programme, strengthening domestic manufacturing across the value chain will be crucial to building a more resilient and self-reliant energy ecosystem.
