The RBI in the latest Master Directions, applicable to Banks, NBFC, CIC etc., on IT GRC and Assurances practices issued on 7th Nov 2023 and effective from 1st April 2024 has mandated the need of an IT Strategy committee headed by an independent director with substantial IT Expertise in managing guiding information technology initiatives. It also has defined Substantial IT Expertise "to mean any person having a minimum of seven years of experience in managing information systems and/or leading/ guiding technology/ cybersecurity initiatives/ projects. Such a member should also understand the business processes at a broader level and the impact of IT on such processes."
This opens up huge opportunities for CISA/CISM/CDPSE/CRISC to become independent directors .They need to register on the MCA portal and also pass the Online Proficiency Self Assessment Test with not less than 50%.
I am delighted to inform you that I cleared the same today and is eligible for being appointed as an Independent Director.
