JDAP JDAP Design - Architecture - Planning This has various aspects to it:

The first aspect is the Object of Design.

"Design that is closer to Nature"

JDAP is a Design, Architecture and Planning firm, with 'Design that is closer to Nature' at the core of its approach. We work on projects that are close to our hearts, and look for deeper purpose in each of our projects that align with our core principles of bringing lasting value to the real world. In doing so, our works span conventional boundaries of industria

l and technology design, architecture and interior design, landscape design and masterplanning. What is seen at the core of our endeavours is the constant effort to make every project a stepping stone on our path to forge a new, sustainable balance between the natural and the manmade world. If the solutions lie in pursuing newer technologies, it is them that we work on, if solutions are seen to lie in learning from nature and from traditional practice, then it is there that we look. The second is the commitment to our Principles of Design. Regardless of the scale or nature of the project at hand, our work is a process of maximising the Value that is inherent in the context of the design object - the program, site, the natural or cultural setting, the financial constraints and the material content. We strive towards achieving holistic solutions that do "More with Less" - solutions that enable greater possibilities and that tackle multiple problems with an economy of means are favoured over those that do otherwise. In doing this, we follow a process that allows for a variety of influences to enrich the project in an organic manner rather than working with predefined outputs. Lastly, we believe that the Architectural project while being both a cultural and a technological one, is at its core an Idea-based one - an Idea that is constantly reinventing and redefining itself. In our work, we seek to constantly Invent - looking for newer ways is favoured over bowing to convention - and it is here once again, that Nature, with its limitless profusion of Ideas that serves as a constant wellspring of inspiration that defines and fuels our aspirations. It is not only the conception and development of the idea that holds value, but
the complete life cycle of the idea into its production and material manifestation that are incorporated and developed into the ethos of the practice. In building competencies , skills and knowledge to make the leap toward a new future of design, we are forever on the path of learning and discovery, and every project is a new one!

We’re finalists at the Architizer A+ Awards!

Our Garden School has been shortlisted as one of the Top 5 Kindergartens globally — in the running for both Jury and Popular Choice awards!

Built in the heart of the city, the school turns the constraints of its context into an opportunity to create spaces of joy and play.

This project is close to our hearts so do take a second to vote!

Garden School Stories

#201 - THE EVOLUTION OF FORM

The form of the building developed in response to a unique set of constraints defined by the project requirements and its context. As a kindergarten, the building needed to be as close to the ground as possible, however doing so meant limiting the availability of open spaces for play.

The regulatory requirement of having two 2-metre wide staircases within a tight footprint led to the idea of substituting one of the stairs with a ramp - wrapping its way up the building, transforming the movement from ground-level play areas to upper-level classrooms into a delightful run!

Garden School, Mumbai

The city in general, and a South Asian megacity in particular, is a challenging place for a child. To learn and grow, she needs an environment that fosters freedom and exploration – these are hard to
come by in today’s city.

The Garden School in Mumbai is conceived as this protective space, holding off the oppressive conventions and constraints of the city, for
a child to be free......

Our project, Garden School in Mumbai is on !

Who says that the doctor's office should be only all white. We added a colorful tweak to an otherwise clinical artwork using lighting streaks and stark lines to create an atmosphere of cleanliness, brightness and calm.

An R&D laboratory for a packaging multinational .. A laboratory often becomes a dull and uninspiring place, when it is often the heart of innovation of an organisation .. Our design for the space, while
accommodating the stringent technical , environmental and statutory norms for an internationally certified laboratory, also made it a fun, refreshing and comfortable space for the researchers working in the lab ..
