Less expression.

Adornment was often excluded, seen as excess, or something that did not belong.

But this boundary is shifting. Jewellery is entering male aesthetics in new ways, becoming part of how identity is explored and communicated. Not just as decoration, but as a potential language. And yet, not everything communicates. Some choices carry intention.

Others remain surface. This is where the tension lies. Is decorative masculinity becoming a signal a new form of expression? Or is it still noise an aesthetic without meaning?

Historically, luxury was synonymous with the finished, untouchable object. We are now witnessing a fundamental shift where the true value lies in the potential for change.

This movement toward Modular Couture is a strategic response to a world saturated with algorithmic noise, offering a necessary return to intention.

Jewelry is transitioning from a static status symbol into a dynamic toolkit for navigating identity. By treating individual pieces as a personal alphabet, the collector gains a level of agency that traditional design cannot provide. It is an evolution from mere possession to a sophisticated form of co-creation, where the wearer becomes the primary author of their own aesthetic story.

This shift marks the next frontier of luxury engagement, rooted in emotional resonance and individual authorship.

Gold jewellery plays a central role in Indian culture, functioning not only as adornment but as a form of savings and long-term security. With rising gold prices, consumer habits are evolving, reshaping one of the world’s most significant jewellery markets.

Key shifts are emerging:
• Jewellery as financial security — gold as savings, inheritance, and future support
• Changing buying behavior — stable demand for wedding jewellery, declining everyday purchases, and increased trade-ins
• Evolving preferences — growing interest in lower karat gold and lighter designs, led by urban Gen Z consumers.

These changes highlight how tradition and modernity continue to intersect in India’s jewellery landscape.

Neo-Rituals channels the raw power of Brutalism into contemporary jewellery—transforming pieces into sculptural, tactile, and emotive artefacts. Inspired by architectural strength and organic imperfection, jewellery becomes a statement of identity and resilience.

Key aspects of brutalist jewellery:
• Architectural forms — bold, monolithic silhouettes echo structural Brutalism while embracing asymmetry
• Raw and reactive materials — oxidized metals, patinated bronze, bio-enamel, and reused stones convey texture and authenticity
• Performative adornment — jewellery extends beyond decoration, interacting with the body through modular, kinetic, and layered designs.

Luxury is undergoing a profound transformation, moving away from ostentation and toward intention. In today’s cultural landscape, value is no longer defined by excess, but by access to wellbeing, time, and longevity. Beauty is being redefined through emotional relevance and lasting impact.

At the heart of this shift, jewellery evolves into a meaningful expression of modern luxury:

• Luxury as intention — focused on wellness, longevity, and mindful living
• Jewellery as wellbeing — no longer purely decorative, but a talisman, ritual, and energetic companion
• Design with purpose — slow, sensory, and soulful pieces meant to be felt as much as seen

This is a new paradigm of luxury: conscious, nurturing, and designed to last.

✨ Held by the Italian Trade Agency Shanghai and the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, the Italian Pavilion “ITALIA” at CIIE Shanghai 2025 has officially closed after an inspiring showcase of timeless Italian jewellery, craftsmanship, and innovation.

💎 Curated by Paola De Luca, Creative Director of Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting, with immersive digital artistry by d’strict, the Pavilion was conceived and designed by Studio G seamlessly blending the analogue mastery of leading Italian maisons with cutting-edge digital storytelling. Reimagined with mirrored arches, its architecture paid homage to the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana — the iconic Square Colosseum in Rome’s EUR district — symbol of Italian modernity and cultural vision.

The Pavilion was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Hon. Tripodi, Ambassador Massimo Ambrosetti, Consul Tiziana D’Angelo, ITA China Director Francesco Pensabene, ITA Shanghai Director Augusto Di Giacinto, and Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Francesco D’Arelli. Paola De Luca offered an insightful introduction to the Pavilion’s themes and the exceptional jewellery showcased, while Maestro Roberto Fiore performed a captivating orchestral piece among the high jewellery masterpieces.

A grand finale celebrating Italy’s creativity, elegance, and enduring cultural excellence.
