Joy’s Home is a brand new homestay facility in the world renowned destination Munnar. Joy’s Home is designed to be the perfect vacation retreat with all the comfort of a home - best suited for those in search of quality, finesse, and personalized attention in a true homely ambience.
The property is owned and managed by Joseph (Joy). Joseph is a native of Munnar. As a spice planter and his son Jibin a tour operator by profession, we knows how to take care of our guests in the most cordial way. Mrs. Joseph with her homely look and dynamism makes her guests feel at home. She is also a passionate cook. Joseph’s elder son is an engineer and he work for a company in Cochin and he lives there.
Joy’s Home has only one room with all the facilities to make a comfortable stay while you are our guests. The room has premium amenities and superb view of green nature. At Joy’s Home accommodation is not just four walls alone. We provide heartwarming hospitality to make your stay a memorable one until the next visit.

Joy’s Home serves typical Kerala cuisine to give our guests a taste of the land. On request we serve your specialty menu also. Kerala Cuisine is closely, linked to its geography, demography and culture of the land. Hoppers, string hoppers, puttu, casava, dosa are the common breakfast dishes.

Joy’s Home isn't simply a place to stay; we offer a range of activities which give guests the unique opportunity to experience the essence of Munnar. The Vembanad House Alleppey...

The Vembanad House is promoted by Mr. Balakrishnan and Ms Sandhya Balakrishnan, the husband-wife duo belonging to the ancient Mayithara family of Alappuzha.

Predominantly an exporter of seafood Mr. Balakrishnan is gradually shifting his focus into the smokeless industry and the Vembanad House is his maiden venture.
As the grandson of Late Sri Mayithara Padmanabhan and Late Sri Pullampally Krishnan Thampi, Mr. Balakrishnan has a legacy of entrepreneurship dating back to centuries. Mayithara Padmanabhan was a leading coir exporter and businessman . He is the co-founder of S N Medical Mission Hospital near Cherthala. Pullampally Krishnan Thampi too was a visionary and had varied business interests in the field of banking and large scale farming.

In the affairs of the Vembanad House, Mr. Balakrishnan is ably assisted by his wife Ms Sandhya. She holds a Masters in Kerala Art and Literature and Business Administration, loves to cook and when in the throes of creativity, writes poetry. Having brought up in a spiritual ambience, Indian philosophy has deeply influenced her ideals of life.

The Vembanad House offers three double rooms and one family room that can accomadate four people. All rooms are Non-AC. The rooms are provided with all sensible amenities.

The Glenrock Bungalow...

The summer retreat of the Travancore rulers in Peermade was built in 1925 by Sethu Lakshmi Bhai, the Regent and the interim ruler to the throne (1924 – 1931). It was named Indiramandiram (Mansion of the lord Indira)
Lovingly known locally as the Ammachi Kottaram,(the palace of the queen mother) is built upon the ghaut at Glenrock Estate ,opened by J D Munro ,the most striking name in the annals of plantation history in Peermade and Munnar

Your host Michael and Mariamma are senior members of the prominent plantation family in central Travancore.
The architecture of the bungalow is a curious Travancore style with colonial structuring, placed within a clearing commanding views of the valley, majestic mountains, finely manicured tea and undulating green meadow.
Here you have lovely tree house overlooking the reservoir and the canoes at the lake just a walk away from the home is an ideal place to spend a lot of time fishing or relaxing just to be in your privacy enjoying the tranquil settings.

Accommodation
The bungalow offers one bedroom in the main house and a two bedroom cottage (Misty mountain cottage) with modern amenities and period furniture.

The home is known for imaginative cooking, which serve continental or Authentic Kerala cuisines sourced mostly from their farmyards –organic and unique, specially the large curry meal served on banana leaf .The unique Malanellu rice –from paddy grown on the hills

The Ashley Bungalow Periyar...

The Ashley Bungalow was built in 1875 by the Bakers and their associates. As you enter from the east through the winding rubble and mud paved road, up on the hill is situated the Ashley Bungalow. The building stands, commanding a magnificent view facing South, at the opening of a ghat on the valley which flows down gently to the plains below. The road twists and turns around the hills through the tea gardens around the bungalow and reach at the three bayed high laden front of the building facing South. The bungalow is a sleeping place of history of the hills of Travancore, where tradition and antiquity lay asleep not easily to be woken up by a sudden knock at its door.

The tiled and steeply pitched roof adorns the building, with peaked roof tops standing on walls on the eastern and western flanks built like a fortress. The high laden building has steps with scalloped ledges which is a curious mixture of local styles and English architecture. This spacious home has lofty domed ceiling made of wood . There is a master piece wood work, separating the dining room from the drawing room The split leveled garden is landscaped with a green lawn fringed on the southern side with trees like Norfolk, pine, cypress, blue gums and spathodia. The thick foliages which lazily let the sun rays sieve through them, makes us feel the embrace of nature. The westerly wind sweep across the drawing room, set majestically with large doors among spans of glass running the full southern side. Seated there on the plush sofas you will feel like a King, and leisurely love to sip a cup of tea, made of leaf fresh from the gardens.

ACCOMODATION
The eastern side has two double rooms. The first is a huge one with massive cots and furniture made in abstract Victorian and mid-Victorian styles Cutting across to the dining room and further north, we come across the second largest bedroom neatly laid with its muscular looking furniture made of teak wood. The corner most bedroom on the east is good humorously called 'a honeymooners den" and is set up very quietly and is always totally undisturbed.

All four bedrooms have fire places and large bathrooms which are ventilated by opening the top half of the windows without loss of privacy. There is another single room with an attached bathroom which is also offered to the guests. The large windows and good wall space of the rooms join together effortlessly to give the bungalow an elegant look.ed floors, is still kept in its old grandeur.
