Welcome to the Business of API hackathon
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bessemer Venture Partners in partnership with Twilio, SendGrid and LinkedIn welcomes you to the first edition of the Business of API hackathon. The event will be held on February 8 – 10, 2013 at the Microsoft Accelerator in Bangalore. It is a great opportunity to explore new technologies from three very popular API companies and build new applications on top of them. We will provide you with all the tools necessary to help you make the most of the hackathon. All you need to do is carry your laptop, mobile devices and have lots of fun.
We will kick start the event on February 8th (Friday) with a presentation which will help you think through how to build successful products on top of existing platforms. Post the presentation, the floor is open for you to mull over your ideas within your group, talk to other developers and gather some nifty tricks from the developer evangelists who will be in attendance to assist you. We encourage you to think through your ideas beforehand, so you can invest most of your time in building your hack.
The hackathon will start early next morning, February 9th. Mentors will be present throughout the event and you are encouraged to approach them for guidance. Our partners are happy to share some of the best practices from other hackathons they have been a part of in the US and elsewhere. We promise you a weekend of learning and fun. We will do a good job of ensuring you are well fed throughout the hackathon. To top it all, there are great prizes on offer and a chance to work on some challenging problems with three amazing companies.
In the coming days, we will have Google hangouts with the partner companies. The companies will share potential applications / areas you can focus on to build your hacks around. In addition, we will help you get acquainted with the APIs on our resources page. If you do need additional assistance, please do not hesitate to let us know in the comments below or via our twitter handle: . Stay tuned for more updates.
