Promoting someone is easy.
Preparing them to lead is the real challenge.

A professional performs well.

So, you promote them.

Now suddenly, they have to:

→ Manage different people
→ Delegate work
→ Motivate the team
→ Give feedback
→ Handle conflicts
→ Conduct meetings
→ Track performance
→ Build ownership

And this is where many organizations face a problem.

Being good at your job doesn't automatically make you good at leading people.

The problem is not always the manager.

Sometimes, they were simply never trained to lead.

We often expect new managers to learn leadership by themselves.

But leadership is a skill.

It needs practice, guidance and the right training.

That's why we created 'Leader In You' at OPEN BOX Consulting.

The program helps mid-level professionals build skills in:

-Self-leadership
-People management
-Communication
-Delegation
-Feedback
-Team motivation
-Conflict management
-Performance management
-Ownership and accountability

Because the biggest shift in a manager's career is:

From doing the work → to helping the team do great work.

When managers become better leaders,
teams become stronger.

When teams become stronger,
businesses grow better.

If you're a Founder or HR leader preparing your next generation of managers and team leaders, let's connect.

Your team isn't lazy. You're probably solving the wrong problem.

One of the biggest mistakes I see founders and managers make is this:

When people don't perform...

They immediately assume,

"My team isn't serious."

But after working with hundreds of MSMEs, I've learned something different.

People don't stop working for one reason.

They stop working for many.

Here are the most common reasons I've observed:

1. Poor Leadership

People often don't fail because of the work.

They fail because they aren't being led effectively.

2. Lack of Knowledge

Sometimes people simply don't know what to do or how to do it.

3. Information Overload

Too much information creates confusion.

They don't know where to start.

4. Wrong Ex*****on

They're putting in effort...

But they're following the wrong approach.

5. Lack of Consistency

Good performance isn't about one great day.

It's about showing up every day.

6. No Results

When people work hard but don't see progress, they eventually lose confidence.

7. No Appreciation

Everyone wants to know their work matters.

Recognition fuels commitment.

8. No Purpose

If people don't understand why their work matters, motivation disappears.

9. No Growth Opportunities

When the future looks invisible, effort slows down.

10. No Systems or Processes

Without clear systems, everyone works differently.

Confusion replaces consistency.

11. Poor Communication

Unclear expectations create poor ex*****on.

12. Lack of Resources

Sometimes people want to perform...

But they simply don't have the right tools or support.

Before saying,

"My team doesn't work."

Ask yourself:

"Which of these barriers have I removed for them?"

Because high-performing teams aren't built by pushing people harder.

They're built by removing the obstacles that stop people from performing.

Leadership isn't about demanding better performance.

It's about creating the conditions where performance becomes natural.

đź’¬ Which of these challenges do you see most often in your organization? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Most MSME business owners I talk to are anxious about AI.

They ask: "How do we adapt? Isn't the technology changing too fast?"

In the latest episode of our Leadership Podcast, I sat down with Mr. Animesh Samuel, Co-Founder & CEO of E42.ai, who brings over 26 years of tech experience to answer this exact question.

Here’s the reality:

→ Focus on problems, not tools: Tech is just an enabler. Business is simply solving real-world problems more efficiently.

→ AI is an agency, not just a tool: Unlike static software, AI acts autonomously—helping your team deliver 10x output without limits.

→ Empathy builds better leaders: True leadership extends beyond business. Inclusion and empathy are what truly future-proof your organization.

If you don't adopt AI in the next 3–5 years, your competitors will solve your customers' problems faster and cheaper.

Don't fear AI, learn to harness it.

Sales is no longer just about people, it’s about systems, AI, and smart processes.

In my latest Leadership Podcast episode, I had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Vikram Kotnis, Founder & CEO of Kylas Technologies Pvt. Ltd., one of India's fastest-growing CRM platforms.

Our conversation explored how MSMEs can move beyond spreadsheets and manual processes to build scalable sales systems that drive consistent growth.

What stood out for me was that businesses don't grow because they work harder, they grow because they build better systems.

In this episode, we discuss:
→ When your business actually needs a CRM
→ How AI is transforming the future of sales
→ Why spreadsheets limit business growth
→ How to hire high-performing salespeople
→ Building scalable sales systems for long-term growth
→ Leadership lessons from building a successful SaaS company

If you're a Founder, CEO, Sales Leader, Entrepreneur, or Business Owner, this episode is packed with practical insights you can apply immediately.

I think we've misunderstood Gen Z.

For years, I've heard Managers say:

"Gen Z doesn't want to work."
"They're difficult to manage."
"They don't respect authority."

After watching how many young people are speaking up for what they believe is fair in our education system...

I don't agree.

I see something different.

I see courage.

I see a generation that refuses to stay silent when their future is at stake.

I see young people asking difficult questions instead of accepting everything without thinking.

And honestly...

I admire that.

Whether every demand is right or wrong isn't what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about something bigger.

The courage to stand up for your future.

Every generation has its own strength.

Maybe ours was patience.

Maybe theirs is courage.

As someone who spends most of his time coaching founders, managers, and young professionals, I believe we need to stop calling Gen Z "difficult."

Instead, we should ask:

"What is this generation trying to tell us?"

They don't want blind instructions.

They want fairness.

They want transparency.

They want purpose.

And they want to know "why."

I don't think that's entitlement.

I think that's awareness.

If we ignore this generation, we'll lose incredible talent.

If we understand them, they'll become one of India's greatest strengths.

To every young person who chooses to raise their voice respectfully for better education, fairness, and a better future—

You have my respect.

Never lose your curiosity.

Never lose your courage.

And never stop asking questions that make society better.

As a leadership coach, speaker, and trainer, I also want to make one promise.

Whenever I speak about Gen Z in my workshops, keynotes, or coaching sessions, I won't focus only on their challenges.

I'll make sure business leaders also understand their strengths.

Because before we expect the next generation to understand us...

We must first make an effort to understand them.

To every Gen Z professional and student reading this:

Keep learning. Keep questioning. Keep leading with responsibility.

Your voice matters.đź’™

Most founders invest in hiring. Very few invest in developing their people.

And that's where the biggest gap begins.

Most companies onboard new employees by explaining policies, processes, and job roles.

But very few help them build the mindset and habits needed to become high-performing professionals.

That's why many founders choose "Brand In You (BIY)" for their entry-level teams.

Recently, we had the opportunity to deliver the "Brand In You" program for a long-term client as part of their new team members' onboarding.

The objective was simple:

→ Build a professional mindset
→ Help employees understand the organization's vision and values
→ Develop ownership and accountability
→ Improve communication and workplace discipline
→ Align personal growth with organizational goals

Why is this important?

Because without the right foundation, organizations often struggle with:

• Low productivity
• Poor communication
• Lack of ownership
• Dependency on managers
• Slow professional growth

When entry-level professionals receive the right guidance from Day 1, they become productive faster, take more ownership, and contribute better to the organization.

At OPEN BOX Consulting, we help organizations build stronger teams through our Brand In You (BIY) program.

Great organizations don't just hire talent. They develop it.

Because today's entry-level professional is tomorrow's manager, leader, and culture builder.

Here are a few glimpses from the session. 📸

Why do so many new employees leave within their first year?

Most companies explain the policies, complete the induction, assign the work... and expect performance from Day 1.

But that's like planting a seed and expecting fruit the next morning.

New employees need more than an induction. They need:

âś… What they need to do
âś… Why their work matters
âś… How to perform the job successfully

When organizations provide clarity, purpose, and skill development, new joiners don't just stay longer—they perform better.

If you want to build a high-performing team, don't just onboard employees.

Develop them from Day 1.
