🔆Exclusive Women’s Portal – Research Grants and Funds

✅On International Women’s Day, GoI announced an exclusive women’s portal for research grants and funds.

♻️Details :

✅The of State for Science and Technology, the Minister for Earth Sciences, and the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh announced the launch of a special women’s portal for grants and funding for research.

✅The portal is operational from April 1, 2023.

✅The Minister was speaking at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s [CSIR] International Women’s Day celebration.

✅CSIR has started exclusive research grants for women scientists under CSIR-ASPIRE and an exclusive portal in this regard will be available from April 1, 2023.

✅In December 2022, under the chairmanship of Dr Jitendra Singh, the Governing Body of CSIR accepted the proposal to invite research funding proposals from women scientists under the Extramural Research Program.

✅The total budget of a research proposal including the research fellow’s stipend should not generally exceed the limit of 25 – 30 lakhs.

Vikram Samvat

The Vikram Samvat also regarded as the Vikrami calendar is a historical calendar for the Hindus in India. Vikram Samvat is also the official calendar of Nepal and is named after the king Vikramaditya. This calendar came into focus after the 9th century with the beginning of epigraphical artwork. Before the 9th century, the same calendar system was known with other names such as Krita and Malava.

Some of the unique features of the Vikrami calendar are mentioned below:

It marks the beginning of the Vikrama era that prevailed in India and Nepal.

The period is named after King Vikramaditya to mark his triumph over the Saka rulers.

It starts at 57 B.C. before the 9th century with Vikramaditya.

This is a calendar based on the movement of the moon and has 354 days in a year.

The Vikram Samvat has 12 months with each month divided into two phases:

Shukla paksha (15 days) – begins with the new moon and ends with a full moon

Krishna paksha (15 days) – begins with a full moon and ends with the new moon

The first day of the Vikram Samvat calendar is celebrated after Diwali in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Vikram Samvat is similar in design to the Gregorian calendar and has been used by the Hindus and the Sikhs. This calendar system is one of the lunisolar calendars developed by ancient human cultures. It uses the lunar months and solar sidereal years for the division of a year.

Dr. Muralidhar Devidas Amte
“The person who supports the downtrodden or helps the needy…. is the true saint in my eyes.”
▪️ Dr. Muralidhar Devidas Amte was born on December 26, 1914 in Hinganghat village in Wardha district, Maharashtra.
▪️ His father Devidas Harbaji Amte was a Lekhpal in government service.
▪️ He practiced law and after that, he established his own firm.
▪️ Dr. Murlidhar Devidas Amte was a freedom fighter and a well-known social worker of India, people used to fondly call him Baba Amte.
▪️ Later, his interests moved towards the freedom struggle and he became a soldier in the freedom struggle.
▪️ He had to go to jail for participating in the Quit India Movement of 1942. Baba Amte also lobbied as a lawyer for the release of the leaders who were imprisoned by the British government during this movement.
▪️ He also spent some time in Mahatma Gandhi's Sevagram ashram and spent the rest of his life as a follower of Gandhism.
▪️ Impressed by his conduct, Gandhiji gave him the title of 'Abhay Sadhak'.

The temple is one of the holiest Vaishnava Hindu Char Dham (four divine sites) sites also including Rameswaram, Badrinath, Puri, and Dwarka.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple is one of the most famous temples also known as the Golden temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple stands on the western bank of the holy river Ganga and is also part of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the holiest of Shiva temples.

The Manikarnika ghat on the banks of the Ganges near the temple is considered to be a Shakti peeth.

According to the , an honest king - Ashwapati - worshipped Goddess Savitri and asked for a daughter as a boon. When the daughter was born, he named her Savitri after the goddess. When the king wanted to get Savitri married, they wanted to settle for Satyavan. However, the priests predicted that Satyavan would only live for another year. They also said that he would soon lose his kingdom. Savitri would not let that information stop her and insisted on marrying Satyavan.

After a year of happy marriage, when it was time for Satyavan to die, Yamaraj - the Death god - came to take him away. Savitri refused to let go of her husband and started following Yamaraj on his way to Yamlok when he took Satyavan with him. Savitri didn’t stop despite constant reminders that no mortal can reach Yamlok alive. Yamraj then offers three boons to her and she asks for her husband’s kingdom and her in-laws’ prosperity. For the third boon, she asks for a child. After Yamraj agrees to all her requests, Savitri reminds him that she has been a loyal wife and without Satyavan, the Death God’s boon (of her getting her own child) would prove to be fake. It was then that Yamraj had to spare Satyavan’s life.
