Now, forensic sciences course in DU...............

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) Students aspiring to study forensic sciences can now apply at Delhi University as the university has introduced the course this academic year, an official said Tuesday.
However, the academic council is yet to give its approval on how many and which colleges will have this course.
The university is trying to make the course available in three or four colleges. Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College has already been given the approval.
"The course has been introduced by the vice chancellor after he was told that there is dearth of forensic scientists and experts in para-military forces in the country," Malay Neerav, Delhi University joint dean of students welfare and media co-ordinator, said at a press conference.
The option of choosing the course is also available in the optical mark registration (OMR) form. However, a star mark says conditio

New queries in Sunanda Pushkar case

Over four months after Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor's wife, Sunanda Pushkar, was found dead in a hotel room here, no one knows how she died. AIIMS, which conducted the postmortem, and the forensic department, which tested the viscera, continue to pass the medical reports.

TOI has now learned that doctors at AIIMS have sent a questionnaire to the forensic sciences lab (FSL), asking them to elaborate on certain aspects of their viscera report. In mid-March, the forensic department had sent the final report of viscera and toxicology examination to police, which had forwarded it to AIIMS.

The cops strangely remain mute spectators.

While the south district cops were tight-lipped on the nature of the questions, sources said they focused on the viscera and toxicology report. "The autopsy team wants to know the exact amount of antidepressant pills in her body and information like, how long she had been on an empty stomach," said the source.

The autopsy report blamed drug poisoning for the death. The viscera report had ruled out poisoning or overdoze of Alprax. This has puzzled the cops as they hadrecovered two strips from the hotel room. While one was empty, the other had three tablets. Each strip contains 15 tablets.

"This means that she consumed 28 tablets but the toxicology test failed to detect them. The report indicates she had been taking them in dosages of one or two. The third possibility is that the strips were planted," said the source. Sources infer that the death was natural but caused in "unnatural circumstances"; a combination of her condition, lifestyle, medicines and stress may have brought on a cardiac seizure. However, the conflicting reports have complicated matters.
