When discussing India's pathway towards and , conversations often focus on renewable energy, electric mobility, industrial decarbonisation, and infrastructure development. Yet one everyday activity connects directly with all these transitions—cooking.

These important themes formed the focus of Talk Series 4.12, "Clean Cooking in India's Energy Transition Pathways to Viksit Bharat & Net Zero," organised by Finovista and the MECS Programme on 18 June 2026.

The session highlighted how electricity is expected to play an increasingly important role across transport, buildings, industry, and cooking, positioning clean cooking as a critical component of India's broader energy transition. Discussions explored how clean cooking contributes not only to improved energy access and public health outcomes but also to energy security, infrastructure planning, and long-term decarbonisation goals.

Experts shared valuable insights on strengthening the electric cooking ecosystem through standards, labelling programmes, state-level initiatives, and the development of standards for commercial induction cooktops. International experiences also demonstrated how electric cooking can support wider electrification pathways, strengthen utility revenues, and improve electricity access outcomes.

The discussion further highlighted the significant opportunities within institutional and commercial kitchens, including hospitals, hostels, educational institutions, canteens, and restaurants, where large-scale adoption can help accelerate the transition. At the same time, participants emphasised the importance of understanding real-world cooking practices, including fuel stacking, cookware compatibility, kitchen readiness, appliance diversity, and consumer confidence.

Affordability remains central to adoption, and while upfront appliance costs may present challenges, electric cooking technologies have the potential to deliver operational savings over time, improving overall value for users.

Celebrating World Environment Day 2026 with a shared vision for a cleaner, greener future.

Finovista was proud to set up a Clean Cooking Technology Showcase at the World Environment Day Workshop organised by the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

We were deeply honoured by the visit of Hon’ble Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji, who visited the Finovista stall, interacted with our team, and showed keen interest in the role of clean cooking technologies in supporting sustainable development across Uttar Pradesh. We extend our sincere gratitude to him for his encouragement and support towards climate action and clean energy initiatives. We also thank and for their valuable support as knowledge partners, and appreciate technology partners and manufacturers including , , , Smith Cucina, and others for showcasing innovative clean cooking solutions.

The showcase featured a range of clean cooking technologies including induction cookstoves, infrared cookstoves, curved infrared cookstoves, electric pressure cookers, air fryers, solar cookstoves, and other modern energy cooking solutions.

More than a technology display, the Finovista stall served as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange. Through engaging conversations, informative banners, visual displays, and live demonstrations, visitors explored the environmental, health, and livelihood benefits of clean cooking while learning about pathways for a just and sustainable energy transition.

We look forward to working closely with stakeholders across Uttar Pradesh to accelerate the adoption of clean cooking solutions and support the state’s journey towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
