PLASTIC NOTES IN INDIA COMING SOON:
The government recently approved the Reserve Bank of India to test new polymer notes in the ₹10 and ₹20 denominations. The pilot project includes issuing one billion pieces of each denomination for field trials, though existing paper currency will not be replaced.
Trial Details:
Denominations: ₹10 and ₹20 polymer plastic notes
Quantity: One billion pieces for each value
Goal: Test durability and performance in local weather and usage conditions
Key Facts:
No Replacement: Existing paper banknotes remain fully valid legal tender.
Durability: Polymer material lasts two to six times longer than standard paper.
