1. Massive Design DaexcLeak
Nissan’s Tokyo-based design subsidiary, Creative Box Inc. (CBI), suffered a ransomware breach by the Qilin group. Approximately 4 TB of data—over 405,882 files—was reportedly stolen, including 3D vehicle models, VR design workflows, internal reports, photos, videos, spreadsheets, and other sensitive design documents.
2. Detection and Containment Efforts
The intrusion was detected on August 16, 2025, prompting CBI to immediately block server access and notify law enforcement. Qilin added CBI to its dark-web extortion portal on August 20, sharing sample files—such as renderings, spreadsheets, and internal images—as proof of the breach.
3. Confirmed Impact and Focus on Internal Risks
Nissan has confirmed the breach and acknowledged that some proprietary design data has leaked. Since CBI works exclusively for Nissan, no external clients, contractors, or individuals beyond Nissan are affected.
