The WATERFALL .
Noida .
The joys of travelling are many; even more so as we look to manifest new experiences, philosophies and inspiration into our creations.
Our travels to London and to the masterful redevelopment of the Battersea park has been nothing short of inspirational.
With the likes of Raphael Vinoly, Frank O Ghery and Norman Foster in its vicinity the Battersea building holds its own.
Its brick facade: a canvas for light and texture that finds its way in the design for our external walls at The Waterfall, Noida.

The W A T E R F A L L

The ‘globule’ : an organic entity constructed entirely out of brick, houses the pool services and electrical panels. The shape is derived from the idea of a horizontal volume anchored by a curvilinear form: textured with brick to respond to the grey linearity of the concrete roof above and the almost masculine rawness of slick granite to one side. The built mass is anchored to the earth via this structure and allows for circulation on either side.

The R I B B O N .
Delhi.
All the drawings in the world; pale away in comparison to an actual working sample.
For our residential project at Noida, termed the ‘RIBBON’, our contractor forged a working sample for the doors.
Made of African and Indian teak and finished with wood veneer, the doors overlap over the frames, hiding the hinges and seals away noise and dust. The frame is curved across the thickness of the walls allowing for a uniform detail on both sides.
An architectural idea starts with a sketch and is then manifested onto built form, via graphical representations.
1.2.3.4 : the sample is proudly displayed by our carpentry contractor and touched and felt over by all 🙃
5 : detailed drawings; good for construction, are issued on site to begin fabrication.
6.7 : the sketch manifests an idea onto a communicable format.

The festival of lights … noise , smoke , pollution and hooliganism!
Despite having banned crackers in yesteryear’s the ‘honourable’ Indian courts allowed certain kinds of crackers to be burst this year, leaving wriggle room for their un-enforced rules to be further violated !
This will be a long night: traumatising all forms of life with unending light , smoke and noise !

A curved metal and glass pivot door opens out to the water body: housing indigenous plants foraged and carefully selected by .co
A S H V A T T H A : ‘the Sacred Fig’

Derived from the Sanskrit terms ‘shva’ (tomorrow) and ‘stha’ (that which remains).

The is a 7000 sqft building built on a plot of land, surrounded by neighboring buildings on three sides.
The clients named the plot ‘Ashvattha’ based on the fortuitously located ‘fig tree’ to the eastern corner of the site.

Ficus trees: like Banyans, Pilkhan, and Peepal, bear inward-growing fig flowers that are pollinated by their own specific species of ‘fig-wasps’ which in turn can only breed inside their partner’s fig fruit. This exhibition of mutualism results in the ripened fruit being a year-round source of nourishment for frugivorous and insectivorous birds and mammals.
The project is an attempt to lure these visiting birds, and insects to explore: carefully selected and located flora on our site, resulting in a sustainable harmonious relationship between human and non-human residents and visitors.
