Marc Tormo Altimira, (born February 23, 1971), is a coffee entrepreneur,roaster, brewer and creative consultant, with more than 20 years ofinternational experience in the specialty coffee movement. His first visit to India in 1990 , was a turning point in his life, discovering Eastern Philosophy and the richness of its spiritual practices. ch for the “ideal place”, lead him to the discovery of Auroville, where he now lives since 1996 and actively participates in many community projects. His coffee journey started in Barcelona at the age of 23, when he opened a cafe boutique with his sister. His trips to Ethiopia and South America inspired him to learn more about the culture of coffee and study the best practices to produce world-class coffees. His coffee research is based on the concept of “From Seed to Cup”. It has taken Marc to travel extensively across the Western Ghats in India, to exchange knowledge about all the processes that make a coffee a winner. He is the founder of Coffee Ideas!, (created in 2008); one of the very first companies in India to roast high quality certified coffees ( bio-dynamic, organic, fair trade and UTZ certified ) in small batches for the Indian gourmet market, under the brand name of “Marc’s coffee” Indian Fine
Coffees. He has consulted turnkey cafe projects, winning several Times Now (2015) awards as well as others in the Indian Coffee Festival (2016). Co-Founder of Marc’s Cafe, Roast & Taste, (2011) a boutique cafe with a vintage style set in a rural surrounding, where locals and coffee aficionados from around the world come and taste the coffee being roasted on the premises. Co- Founder of Catami, Dreamer’s cafe, (2013) at Auroville Visitor’s center, and upcycled container turned into a solar cafe brewing Marc’s coffees along with best products from Auroville and Local food artisans. Marc’s cacao project, (2014) started with the aim to promote organic Indian Organic Premium Cacao, by establishing networks with organic cacao farmers and selling their raw cacao beans, under the brand name of “Marc’s Cacao”. He has visited cacao plantations, manufacturing units and attended conferences
and workshops in Ecuador and Colombia. The Living Room, (2016) a coffee and cacao resource center offering classes from 9 to 12 AM, and from 6 to 10 PM runs as a cafe. As a public figure, Marc has been activity present in the press by reviews, articles, and interviews in magazines, newspapers, radio programs and food TV shows. His hobbies after coffee of course, are nature treks, running, bird watching, cooking and being with good friends. In terms of music, there’s nothing like good Jazz, Bossa Nova, Reggae, Western Classical and Indian Ragas.
