Digital Signature Certificates are the digital equivalent (electronic format) of physical or paper certificates.
Ex. of physical certificates are passport, driving licence,PAN card, AADHAR card etc.
Certificates serve as proof of identity of an individual for a certain purpose.
Ex. Driver's license identify someone who can legally drive in a particular country.
Likewise a digital signature Certificate can be presented electronically to prove one's identity, to access information on the internet or to sign certain documents digitally.
