Old Vs New AI Story:
The story used to be "AI helps you do your job faster."
The current story is "AI does the job."
Companies are not just automating entry level tasks anymore. This is no longer just about chatbots. It's about agents that do the job. It is the arrival of AI "Agents" that plan multi-step work, use tools and software on their own, and complete entire workflows with minimal supervision. Instead of asking AI to draft an email, companies are now asking it to research a client, write the proposal, schedule the follow-up, and update the CRM, unassisted.
If you are a CXO, VP, or Director in your late 40s or 50s, you have probably treated AI as background noise, something for the tech team, or the twenty-somethings, to worry about. That assumption needs to end today. What is actually happening in the AI industry right now has direct, material consequences on your retirement timeline, your portfolio, and possibly your next promotion. If this resonates and you want to learn AI, DM me "Learn AI".
If your job as a senior involves real decision-making, you have more insulation than you think. But if your day-to-day job is closer to "coordinating," "reviewing," or "managing the process" then that is exactly the layer under pressure right now. The question is not whether AI will change your industry. It has changed already.
In 2026 job cuts have significantly accelerated across the technology, financial, automotive sectors, driven primarily by corporate restructuring and artificial intelligence infrastructure integration. Key giant companies implementing major reductions include Amazon, BMW, TCS, Microsoft, Meta, and many more. Nearly 1 in 3 BFSI employees are now considering leaving, citing AI disruption and rising pressure. Managers are among the most affected.
These are not distress layoffs (triggered by immediate financial survival needs), they are strategy layoffs (proactively realign talent with future operational shifts).
The question is, does your retirement plan survive an exit 3 to 5 years earlier than you are currently planning for? Most plans I review don't.
How old is your retirement plan? Was it built before AI started cutting management layers? If this resonates, DM me “Plan Age”.
