Why You Should Work For A Startup
A big MNC might pay you more and give you lots of benefits than a Startup Firm. But nothing is more pleasant than working with Startup Firms.
Imagine you have just graduated from college and you have a couple of job proposals in your hand. One job proposal is from a big MNC and another is from a small startup firm. And you are confused about which offer you should accept. You would think that you must choose the offer 2from the big MNC with lots of benefits and a nice environment. But on the other hand you have the offer of a small startup company. You have seen their work, have liked their approach towards work. But you are still confused whether to choose a small startup over the big MNC. So, here are a few reasons why I feel that you should work for A Startup. This is purely on my personal experience, having worked for both, an MNC and a Startup:-
1) Friendly Work Environment
In a startup firm, there is no specified hierarchy at work. It is ‘You’ who has to work at all levels, from junior level to a senior position. ‘You’ are the decision maker in the company. ‘You’ can enjoy your work in a friendly environment. The staff is co-operative. ‘You’ can see the difference in yourself after some period of time.
2) Small Team
In a big company, the team size is large. And everyone’s motive is different. But in a startup firm, the team may be small but they all are working with one common motive. As a result, the relationship between the Employees and the Employer is cordial and genuine. ‘You’ can learn new things very easily from your colleagues.
3) Challenging environment
If you are working with a startup, each day brings you new challenges. ‘You’ have to deal with every challenge. ‘You’ may become an excellent multi-tasker as ‘You’ will get ample opportunities to learn and improve. Sometimes you may also get frustrated by work. Sometimes you may fail. But ‘You’ will learn from your mistakes. After some period of time ‘You’ will be flexible enough to work in any environment.
4) Scope for Creativity
Working with startups gives you opportunities to showcase your hidden talents and creativity. If you are a good thinker and you like to experiment at work, this gives a good platform. In large companies, you may not get such opportunities.
But, whether ‘You’ will find satisfaction in working with a Startup will totally depend on your liking, skills and ability to adapt. If you want a broader horizon early in your career and an outstanding future, working for a Startup is a better option for you.
