The “Pilot Project on Entrepreneurship Development in the Holy City of Puri, Odisha” was launched under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India (GOI) and the Department of Financial Services, GOI. urship, (IIE), Guwahati (an autonomous agency under MSDE) is the nodal agency and Siddha Development Research and Consultancy Private Limited (SDRC) is the local Project Implementing Agency. A brief note on the implementing stakeholders has been given in the following section. Project Objectives:
The project aims to promote micro and small businesses in the holy city of Puri, Odisha through:
● Resumption of existing livelihood activities and/or by supporting new and existing enterprise to scale up.
● Mentoring and handholding support to cyclone Fani impacted entrepreneurs, new and existing entrepreneurs (with or without credit history), women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from differently abled groups. These potential new and existing entrepreneurs include but are not limited to the 1st generation entrepreneurs, educated unemployed youths, school/college dropouts, women/youths from backward communities.
● Helping the entrepreneurs in
o setting up and scaling up enterprises,
o developing marketing channels and forum,
o strengthening sales outlet,
o capacity building,
o establish linkages with banks, Fintechs, Micro Finance institutions,
o carry out scoping study and value chain analysis study for sectors relevant in the context of Puri. o manage the enterprise activities related to Manufacturing, Services and Trading in a diverse set of sectors. Besides the mentoring and the handholding support, linking the new or the existing businesses to the banking sector as well as to the local and global markets through innovative technology-based platforms is also a part of the strategy that will be emphasised at all stages of the programme.
