India’s Textile Industry is the second largest textile industry globally, and the scenario started changing immensely after the LPG usage began in textile processes. The textile industry of India also contributes nearly 14% of the country’s total industrial production, and it not only generates jobs in its own industry but also opens up scopes for the other ancillary sectors.

LPG is used in the textile & garments industry for numerous applications like Singeing (burning off projected yarn for better fabric-finish), Calendaring, Drying after printing on fabrics and for Steam generation.

Drying process:

The air required for drying can be heated directly (from fuels, electric resistances, and quenching processes) and indirectly via heat exchangers.

Direct air heating using contaminating fuels such as oil and diesel make the air susceptible to contamination. Using LPG meets cleanliness requirements for numerous processes.

Singeing process:

Also called gassing, this process delivers an even surface by burning off projecting fibres, yarn ends, and fuzz. The yarn or fibre is passed over a gas flame or heated copper plates at speed necessary to burn the protruding material without harming the fabric.
