Management consulting involves solving complex business problems and offering recommendations to companies.
It's hard to have a consulting based job interview without any case-based questions in it.
So what exactly is a Case?
Case is a business issue/problem a particular company is trying to find solution for. It takes about 20-25 minutes to solve a case with a detailed solution. (Don't take more time). It has limited data and we have to make certain assumptions that depicts our logical thinking towards a business case. Approach to solution is more important than final results.
Common case interview method is "Go with the flow" where you'll determine the areas to explore and lead the discussion.
However in some big MNC's interviewer guides the discussion and case has heavy brainstorming component.
