"Solar-Powered Borewell Brings Better Livelihood for Tribal Farmers"

In Erode District, at the tribal village of Getthesal in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve forest area under Asanur Panchayat, READ organization has successfully installed a solar-powered borewell project to improve the livelihood of tribal communities.

This project has directly benefited six tribal farmers from the village. Earlier, these farmers depended only on rainfall for cultivation. Due to low rainfall and water shortage, they were unable to continue farming throughout the year, which affected their family income and economic stability.

Now, through the solar-powered borewell system, they have access to a stable water supply all year round. This has created an opportunity for continuous farming in every season. Farmers can now cultivate vegetables, grains, and other crops, helping them increase their income and improve food security for their families.

The inauguration ceremony of the solar-powered borewell project was held today (08.05.2026). The project was inaugurated by Mr.Yogesh Kumar Garg (DFO), who opened the project by cutting the ribbon.

Speaking about the initiative, Director Karuppusamy said, β€œThis project is an important step towards improving the quality of life of tribal communities. With reliable water access, farmers are confidently continuing agriculture activities. This not only increases family income but also creates sustainable livelihoods.”

The event was attended by Mr.Venkatachalam, Mr.Prakash, Mr.Sakthivel, other forest department officials, and village residents
