Artificial intelligence, artificial general intelligence, and our common sense (is it still there?)!
Artificial intelligence, or AI, is a buzzword everywhere. The rants have become so intense that we almost forgot to talk about the original: the organic intelligence of humans!
Common sense is an uncommon thing as we know it. It becomes rarer when a change, particularly any tectonic change, occurs in terms of technology. I’m seeing stuff being posted on newspapers and social media every day.
We have tasted AI tools like ChatGPT version 3.5 and ChatGPT version 4. YouTubers are making money just by showing people how to use them. To aid us in having the AI complete more work, new plugins like AIPRM and Harpa AI have appeared.
Artificial General Intelligence, or AGI, the next generation of AI, is already here. Experts who developed AI and AGI say that AGI can think for themselves and become more intelligent than humans. Then it may take over our civilization and eliminate us. We are excited.
Newspapers, intellectuals, visionaries, celebrities, and even astrologers are divided over their opinions. But we should have no reason to worry if we think logically and intuitively. Why? Because every watershed moment on earth comes with new opportunities and challenges.
What is AGI, in simple terms?
AGI is a kind of artificial intelligence that can perform any intellectual task that a human can do. That includes jobs that require reasoning, problem-solving, learning, and understanding. AGI could learn from experience, adapt to new situations, and solve problems in ways we cannot even imagine.
Can AGI be more powerful than humans?
Let’s think with common sense. How are humans different from something that can deliver intelligent solutions to problems? Refer the attached image.
The list is not exhaustive, but the bottom line is that we should welcome AI and AGI to help us in the same way a machine helps us and not worry much about their power. Because God created humans, humans can’t become equal to or surpass God’s capabilities.
It is not a religious statement, but a view based on simple common sense. So, let’s enjoy the new toy in our house.
